Am I missing something or am I just disappearing?

I got this game like a week ago and I still do not know how everything works so:

I don't get it, this has happened several times. I'm simply playing, walking around and then, all of a sudden, it stops, I simply disappear and the whole "press this to follow someone else, press space to go back to you, etc..."

So, am I missing something or is it a bug?

Another thing I saw was this one time I was prone and something started to hit me in the torso. Was that a hack? In a scale from WarRock to Battlefield 2142, where does RO stand in terms of hackers?

To me it just sounds like you're getting killed. It can be really hard to see where you are being shot at from and it's usually a one-hit-kill game unless you get lucky. Some servers have a realism mod that disables spectating so as soon as you die the screen goes black, and I mean like the instant you're hit.
