Server #1: Now features Friendly Tags!
Check it out and let me know what you think. I'm hoping like heck it works. Works with bots fine but I'm only one player.
![]() We are only running one server on our system until Tripwire releases a patch. The server includes the following: 1.5x Map Timer 2.0x Spawn Timer Blackout for waiting and dead players. Friendly tags at 25m without focus, increased friendly tags with zoom to 35m. Please give feedback here. All options are changeable from the web interface, if feedback comes in tonight that the tag distance needs to be changed, be sure you let an admin know. He can make the change and it'll take effect next time a map loads. Thanks.

Getting noticed by Tripwire Staff is a good thing:

Good work, and many thanks. The tags is one of the few things that bother me about the game.

Re: Server #1: Now features Friendly Tags!
As usual, excellent work, Tze! I played on Server #1 tonight and tested things out with FriedFish. The friendly tags are awesome. The view distance felt about right for the relatively small number of players that we had at the time. I'd love to see how it looks when the server is more populated.
FriedFish and I also experimented with the Local VOIP range. It definitely did not seem to be working at 55 feet (even though it was set to a 55 foot range), so I extended it to 85 feet. RO players, please try to use the Local VOIP channel as much as possible and provide feedback on its range. This should be the preferred method of communcation within the game, and we want to make sure it works correctly. Also, as I mentioned in another thread, I now see no reason not to use Wulfyn's rank system on Server #1. It would be great if RO players could start doing this. Once we have server messages in place, we may actually decide to make it an SOP. Those who start using it now will likely be ahead of the curve. Last edited by Strag; 03-30-2006 at 12:58 AM. |

Re: Server #1: Now features Friendly Tags!
Local VOIP range was increased (just now, after some testing) to 25 meters. If you can see their tag, they can hear you on Local VOIP. If they are behind a rock but still within 25m, they can also hear you.
We realize this may affect tank battles, however we feel it may be important to know what the tank within 25m of you is doing, as well as what you are doing.

This rocks. Way to be responsive to player suggestions in attacking the most frustrating aspect of the game (for me, anyway). Looking forward to trying it out. Great work Tzef! +manual rep
