RO night on special events server?

I'm seeing if there's any interest in having a good ol' tank brawl on the special events server in the near future.

Currently I'm playing RO and BF2 PRM and have given POE2 a fair shake the last couple of nights but it's not for me.

I guess I'm saying I do most of my gaming on non-TG servers and would like to try and get together with other TG'ers that still play RO.

I would even be willing to run through some "armor basics" in RO for those that want to learn the ropes.

Any takers?!?

Re: RO night on special events server?

had to fire up steam to see if I had it still installed...yup...I'll join you when it comes together...I always felt RO was a better tank game than anything else. I'm Ok in armor at best...too slow..but glad to lob a few shells down range when its time. Don't mind being the driver either...kind of like it actually. I think I remember you like to go solo in the RO armor.

Well, yes and no. There are a lot of factors.

1) The "lighter" tanks (Pz. IV and T-34) have such thin skin it's likely you'll blow up after you eat just one round. No sense in giving the enemy a "twofer" in those. But hey, if need be I'll certainly keep someone company and we'll make it a challenge to live more than five minutes in either of those tanks.

2) The "heavier" tanks (Panther, Tiger and IS2) should have two man crews, but rarely do you crew up with someone that is knowledgeable with the strengths and weaknesses of both his and his enemies tank.

Meaning how to use the terrain, how to angle, staying at ranges that give you the advantage, where to aim at the enemy tank, etc.

For instance, if you're in the Panther, you have a long-barrelled 75 mm gun. Your rounds don't drop much at long range so you're able to zero in on your target more quickly than your opponent, since he'll probably have to fire a handful of rounds to find the range. Also, the frontal armor of the Panther cannot be penetrated by the T-34, so make the IS-2 your primary target since that is the only Soviet tank that can damage your frontal armor and take you out.

On the flipside, if you're in a T-34 don't slug it out with Tigers and Panthers at long range. Use the speed of your tank to flank them and hit them from the sides and rear. Take out the Panther first since his turret rotates so quickly he can track you at any range and put accurate fire into your hull; the Tiger turret traverses so slowly it's likely the gunner will lose sight of you if you drive to his flank or rear.

Also, I've memorized where the ammo magazines are on each tank so it's generally one shot = one kill when I'm gunning.

That being said, yes I often perform much better by myself than with others in the tank. However, if I crew up with someone that is also familiar with armor in RO, we can go the entire 20+ minute rounds without ever dying and inflict massive casualties on the opposing force. It's just that this happens maybe .0002% of the time; more often than not if you're hull down in a field and someone hops in the drivers seat of your tank, they're going to use it as a taxi to drive the two of you to your deaths as quickly as they possibly can...

I would love to join you if Real Life stuff doesn't rear its head on that night.

Re: RO night on special events server?

An offer related to WWII and armors is hard to refuse. Here comes my 3rd attempt to keep RO in current play list...

Coridon/Grunt, meet your driver John...He will be your feet on muddy terrains of Kursk and Kharkov.

Special events server will be hard to populate in the beginning but provides an excellent ground for Cor to provide basic training for interested parties.

What about Sat nights?
