Rank-Class Poll
I guess this is to give more of a gauge of what we want.
The option that has been most discussed is Wulfyn's system, which you can find in the command structure idea. The alternative it seems is a non-kit based ranking system.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
Kit based means that certain kits automatically qualify or disqualify you for a rank. For instance, a sniper couldn't be a private, they'd have to be a corporal.
Non-kit based means that other than the Commander (who is the Lt) and the Tank Commanders (who are Sgts), you get to choose your rank after you select your kit.It is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. Re: Rank-Class Poll
You are indeed correct, but remember, the three bottom ranks (PVT PFC and CPL) are basically the same role, just with different weapon selections. (see my post in the other thread)
This allows for commanders to more accuratly gauge which class a certain person has. They can yell, Private First Class! Lay Down Covering Fire! Without having to look at a person's specific name.
Remember, this is not the final thing. This is the first phase to get a community response. Whatever we decide is non-binding.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
Granted, but saying a name is more personal and no longer an issue with the friendly tag mutator.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
haha, very true.
The main attraction of the Kit-Based system to me personally is the tactical realism in it. I mean, IRL would you ever see a squad leader with a machine gun? Or even a rifle? Not really.
-Kaine
And i'm a sniper btw, and i just would love to be able to be tacticaly effective by hunting out and lopping off the head of a squad leader.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
Well, I don't think there's much realism in it. A sniper would be a specifically trained individual in a squad, not the squad leader. As such with a lot of the other classes. I personally think a lot of the weapons were first come, first serve; not that the squad leaders got best pick. Most of the time they the Sargeants were trying to be in safe positions and wanted the guys that needed the better weapons to protect him to have them.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
Yeah, the sergeants would take a rifle and give the cooler guns to their soldiers. Remember, a submachinegun means you're the one who gets to go charging in. The sergeant is not the one who goes running in. He's the one who sits back.
It really makes no sense to restrict weapons by rank because then if someone was a really good sniper they'd also have to be a good commander or if someone was a great commander but not a good shot they'd waste one of their team's best weapons.|TG-Irr|TychoCelchuuu

Re: Rank-Class Poll
I dont understand, why would a sniper be a commander? A sniper would be a CPL, and not a squad leader of any sort.
EDIT: You did read my post on the topic in the other thread right? It seems like alot of people are thinking we are saying X when we are really saying Y, and its getting frustrating.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
Fine, a submachinegunner would be a sergeant. The point is, if I'm a great shot with that submachine gun, I shouldn't be forced into commanding, and if I'm a great commander, I shouldn't get stuck with that godawful excuse for a gun. I'm not worried about which gun goes where, it's the whole idea of restricting leadership to certain guns that doesn't work.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
The thing is... every weapon that is available to the upper ranks is also available to the lower ones. Say i want a sub-machine gun, but to hell with commanding. I could be an engineer! Or if i'm german, i can go anti-tank.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
The engineer class is not the same as a submachinegunner. There are additional responsibilites that come with the satchel charge. Same with the anti-tank class.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
Well, either way it will be better than nothing. I look forward to whatever method is implemented, and if its the no-kit command structure, so be it. I will derfinitly enjoy playing TG with either method.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
OK its' official, I'm an idiot. Voted for the wrong choice! Please subtract one vote from kit based ranks and add one to non-kit based. I don't want to be limited to a certain set of weapons based on my rank.

Re: Rank-Class Poll
hahaha! Nice one ironsight. Juyst guys, remember that there are enough ranks in Wulf's system to accomadate all guns for CPL and bellow (so you dont need to lead). Its only slightly limited.
