My thought is that with the amount of people getting the game (according to the poll) it's very possible we'll have a server full of SM's quickly. Not sure how many SM's have pre-ordered and how many are just regular TG members.

All, I'm sure a higher then usual number of admins will be on today to assist with the initial release and keep in mind that with the server Apophis ordered we can run 2 32-player RO servers with no problem.

While I selfishly like the password idea for my gaming tonight, I hate to see us miss any oppurtunity at recruiting/marketing our servers. All those nubs out there could be potentiall TGers or SMs and we need to remember that growing our membership allows us to support many games and afford those new servers.

I think having 1 server passworded is not a bad idea for a weeks time as those of us not in the beta (grumble) get a good feel for the game and start getting over that learning curve hump. That doesn't preclude not playing on the open server, it could be much less stressful learning this game TG style in a more patient environment.

Anyway, just my $.02.

Yes, the main intent in passwording the server(s) is to allow TG players to learn the game in a more hospitable environment. RO has a bit of a learning curve and to prevent unnecessary frustration it will be easier to just restrict access until everyone is up to speed.

Passwording the servers is necessary. Even then, I bet we will see an influx of players signing up to get the password, and not even bothering with the SOPs. Admins will have their hands full.
