i can understand keeping TG members happy with the server (ie getting on the server), but it could ALSO bring in NEW players pretty fast, as they are all going to be testing the game out for the first few weeks.... if they start HERE, they might like our style, and stay... more members for TG then!!!
I hear what you're saying, Overlag. My thoughts:

Red Orchestra has a fairly steep learning curve, and it can be less than enjoyable when players with a "lone wolf" attitude are present. Initially, I would rather provide our members with a good experience as we learn the game together instead of trying to recruit pubbies. After we've all had a chance to learn the game, we can open our servers to the outside, bring new players in, and educate them. But first, we need to become proficient with the game so that we can all be effective teachers. That's what this initial passwording of the servers is for.

    or am i missing something?
I think what you are missing is the fact that the servers may fill up very quickly and stay full. Until a technical solution is available this will mean TG supporting members will not be able to access their server!

I get your point about recruitment as well. Maybe we will end up with one server passworded and the other open but like any other launch the administrators will just have to play it by ear.

Oh, they'll be able to get on, it will just have to be as the result of an admin kicking a non-SM to open a slot.

What i did not expect: doing a complete preload. trying to run the game which does not do anything (no error message whatsoever). being forced to "verify integrity of cache files" and realizing that i am back to 81% preload status ... now loading the rest @ 14kb/s ...

Might be more then you think. There were 15+ TG players in the beta and most of them are admins so a full server tonight may not be out of the question.

If there's room for non-SM's, I will be on the server. As soon as I can verify and do all the extra stuff that pre-loading apparently doesn't do, heh.

New member here. I've preloaded RO and will finish loading tonight. Can't speak for anyone else but I plan to practice offline with the bots for a while before showing everyone just how bad I am! I've played WWII Online but RO looks quite different based on what I've read and seen in the video clips. Looking forward to the team approach here. We had a good team in my WWIIO squad (644th Wild Boars) but precious little of it elsewhere in that game from my experience.

I would imagine this final preloading is necessary because of last-minute tweaks and fixes that were made.

Welcome to TG, enjoy your stay.

Don't worry about appearances on the first day, most everyone is at the same disadvantage. Just jump in with both feet and we'll all learn together!

Besides, you don't want to hone your skills vs. bots, when you have plenty of live cannonfodder right here.

what is WWIIOL like now? i played it for a few months and enjoyed it quiet alot, but i never had the time due to work to play it propery, plus i also play Aces High 2, and had to choose between the two....AH2 got the vote... However while im still paying for AH2 i dont play it anymore.....which is rather silly considering i dont have anymoney!!
