Couple of interesting facts...
I picked up a book regarding the Russian and German tank battles of WW2.
1. The Russians trained dogs to run at German tanks with explosives strapped to their backs. The dogs would then go under the tank and the Russians would detonate the explosives. The effects to the tank were devastating, as well as the dog.
2. The Russians had Anti-Tank grenades. They would try throw the grenades on the rear engine compartment of the tanks or drop them in an open hatch.
3. The Russians also had an anti-tank rifle that used a magazine instead of a single loader.
I was gonna post another but it's late and I can't remember right now...I'll add more as I read....."If the sword is always sheathed, it will become rusty, the blade will dull, and people will think as much of its owner." —Yamamoto Tsunetomo, Hagakure: The Book of the Samurai
I prefer a challenge and teamwork rather than a stat loading server without sound tactical ideals.

What about the human mine the Japanese used in the pacific. THey would dig a hole and sit in it until a tank drove over them. Then they would take an arty shell and bang the primer with a hammer under the tank.

1) Yes this did happen a few times, but the event is vastly over-rated. It was sort of an experiment that the Russians abandoned quickly. It seems the dogs could not differentiate between German tanks and Russian ones...
2) Sure. And the Germans also had magnetic charges that they could stick onto tanks also, which exploded with a shaped charge. This was a late war development. Still, a desperate weapon of last resort.
3) Not familiar with that.

Re: Couple of interesting facts...
The Russians also had a magnetic anti-tank mine that they'd attach to the hull / turret. This would be most effective when tanks were rolling through an urban area, as they could somewhat easily throw one on as the tank passed. When the timer went off, BOOM. I think the charge was much like the business end of a Panzerfaust or Bazooka, a shaped charge designed to burn through the armor. To combat this, the Germans applied "Zimmerit" to the tanks. This was a ceramic paste that was applied with various ridge patterns that made it more difficult for the mines to stick. I remember this well from my WW2 model-building days.
Another thing the Germans did to combat infantry anti-tank weapons was side skirting. They'd have lightly armored panels attached to rails that would cover most of the sides and upper suspension of the tank. The thinking here was a bazooka round would detonate and burn through the armored panel, and not the actual side armor of the tank. There were also similar panels on the turret. This would also somewhat increase protection from small-arms fire.BF2 POE2: NC_Tarheel

I know, it sounds impossible! Personally, my dog freezes in place whenever he hears a loud noise, and I think all dogs are like that.

Re: Couple of interesting facts...
I remember reading about those dogs, too. The problem, as mentioned, was that they'd go to friendly tanks, too.

The Russian military also trained suicide dogs, during WW II. The dogs (half staved) were loaded with explosives, and trained to seek out food under moving tanks; a trigger device attached to their backpacks, would depressed causing an explosion capable of cutting through the steel under belly of the tanks.
In one day, alone, on the Izyum sector, these canine tank busters destroyed nine tanks and two armored cars. So feared by the Germans, that as soon as they heard the barking and saw the running dogs, they would frantically turned their tanks around and head back towards their own lines, for they knew from experience what was in store for them.
One Russian correspondent stated that "the dogs have saved thousands upon thousands of lives on the Russian front." And he was right!
