Re: So...
Strag doesn't love us
He posts reminders about events in all the other game forums but not this one
We're a group of unorganized hooligans, we need someone to smack us around and call us sally! I'm not the biggest fan of the game, but I'd still like to play and get things figured out..

Re: So...
I play the game about as much as I used to play BF2 - which is several nights a week. Since it died off here, though, I play on pub servers. It's not that bad, since the ones in my favorites list are run pretty well and attract many of the same faces every night. Still, the level of smacktardery is higher than on the TG BF2 servers for sure, and the level of teamplay not as good. I wish this one were a "hit" HERE.

Re: So...
Would you consider RO one of the titles which penalizes nontactical play?

Re: So...
Well if you want to sometime, I'd be up for it (seriously). I bet it would run pretty well over Hamachi, and the jDoom engine actually makes it look halfway decent..

Re: So...
Wednesday is probably not the best day.
Since wednesday is clan&vets night or basically anyone that wants to use communications. There is a post on the original ro forum with the password its on (www dot roladder dot net) aswell.
Atleast you'll know you'll get 32 people playing using teamspeak and working together with a big bunch having clan experience
.
Saturday nights are taken by BFE.
BFE or Battle For Europe (www dot bfero dot com) is a campaign (they are now busy testing maps for rule creating still)
You basically select the allied or axis side and fight to glory, you start at a german attack of the german boarder. and then the commanders got some sort of risk menu to command the troops, and instead of rolling dice you fight for it in the game. Every saturaday will probably feature 2-3 maps. The campaign will end once either germany or ussr win it all.
Both BFE, and the Vets night. Have come off nicely already.
With bfe you have the fun of actually being able to help planning the tactics with your team, to always play with thesame so you grow together and really start caring about loosing and winning. A big amount of roleplaying is involved including ranks and weapon certificates.
With the Vets night, you have the fun of no nonsense instant teamwork and tactic creation on the go together with all the classic clans that know the inside outs of the game.
Even if the tactical gamer days won't pull off as nicely as you guys hoped, there are 2 days every weak where you'll find a full server of teamplay action.

Re: So...
I like the non-arcade aspect of the game and I think many players did like that. There were other issues that made me go back to play some other games... and now that GRAW is here...

Today was my last day of highschool. *sniff* So I will be online a lot more regularly. Maybe not tonight though because it's party time.

Re: So...
I feel the same way about RO. There are some very promising elements to it but for me it several technical issues added up to take this off my list of active titles I play. And by tecnical I'm not talking about comms or anything to do with game play...I didn't enjoy the graphics too much and I thought that hit detection was too random. With all the build up here at TG ...frankly I was quite disappointed in the title.

Example of what I say. 1st MIP or like minded players would form up and try a flanking and suppressing maneuver using stealth and deliberation. Half the time a smg'er would come running along and blast away at the enemy in front of us--giving up our position and blowing the attack. At the end, it was very frustrating. Since there is no effective overall command structure, this happened time and time again. Maybe as a 1st MIPer we were too demanding and expected too much....and I know, I've seen it written a thousand times if once, maybe we were too spoiled by the comms in BF2.
From my perspective as a 1st MIPer I just enjoyed BF2 Tac mod more. It slowed BF2 down and it allows the 1st MIP to operate as we've always wanted to--with complex, multi strategy small unit tactics.
Sorry RO guys--I gave it the college try but it just didn't cut it.|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: So...
I don't have the game, nor have I played it. But I've purchased it online and am awaiting it to arrive in the mail (a week or so and it should be here). When it arrives though, I'm looking forward to giving it a shot on a TG server, or with TG people
