    September Update; A significant change?

As you know, a new update is available for Red Orchestra. I wasnt very interested until I saw the following post on Blue's News

New animation Sep 20, 12:02 BicycleRepairMan

Alot of the complaints on RO was related to the walking animations which looked stiff and unnatural, well, no more of that, check out the new ones:

I wouldnt be wrong if I say this was one of the top 3 reasons why I never liked RO, animations are(were?) the worst I have seen in any FPS I played. A complete immersion killer. Soldiers are like logs tumbling around. Ugly...simply ugly (I was keeping this inside and finally vented, what a relief )

I am quite disappointed with Tripware because when they were advertising the game, they mentioned a new and improved animation system. Well, looking back the mod days of RO, I dont see any improvement at all.

Anyways, I checked the video and there seems to be some kind of improvement with this new update but it still doesnt look right.

Those of you who had the chance to play the updated RO, what do you think about the new animations?

I really couldn't care less. I spend enough time during the rest of my life staring at burly men's legs, so I try to avoid looking at them in Red Orchestra.

Wait, I mean, I care more about the tactics and the communication than I do the animation. That's exactly what I meant. I don't stare at men's legs at all in real life. Ever. At all. I don't. Not one bit.

Humor aside, there are definitely other problems with the game that kill my enjoyment. I didn't find any purely cosmetic issues that really bothered me...

yeah... the cosmetic side is actually the least of the games issues IMHO.

I haven't turned on Steam to patch, but I did read that the way you pick up kits is now very similar to BF2. You just hit your "use" key while standing over a dead soldiers kit and it swaps everything of your for theirs, which I'm not entirely thrilled about. I liked the ability to "mix 'n match" an Stg44 with frag grenades with a panzerfaust, etc., and now it doesn't sound like that's possible. Boooo!!

I do agree the animations were poor and people "hovered" over objects when they were prone over them. Was this fixed? I also heard they took out all the swearing in native German and Russian, which was a highlight of the game!!!

I guess I need to patch this weekend and see what exactly was changed. At the very least the devs are listening to people in the RO forums and working to make the gameplay better...

Coridon, you don't pick up like that. They just made it so you don't have to drop your weapon first, and so you don't have to pick up each magazine individually. You can still mix and match.
