Forum Looks Dead
From the looks of this forum, it seems like I missed the boat on this one. Activity with this sim no longer heavy? I suppose people have moved on. I'm not criticizing anyone or the game mind you, just wondering if anyone plays this one yet because I'm thinking of getting it.
LOL...yeah I know, talk about coming to the party late.

Re: Forum Looks Dead
I think you hit the nail on the head as far as Tactical Gamer is concerned. We no longer run our own server for this game. I know there are a few TGers who still play this title though. They might chime in and meet up with you on someone else's server.

Re: Forum Looks Dead
If there's another free weekend, and I get enough notice, I'll set RO up on the C&E server.

Re: Forum Looks Dead
maybe to tg'rs but RO is very much alive and kicking. Great game, but arcade type players do not enjoy it too much. The forum on the official web site is quite active.

Re: Forum Looks Dead
Before you buy it just understand one thing. if you have played any modern FPS game, sim or arcade, this game doesnt even come close to any of them. Graphics are dated, gameplay is old and not new. Im sure the game is kicking but if you into a good sim type game with good graphics get Swat4 or COD2 and join our server.
that sounds like a good idea trooper.

Re: Forum Looks Dead
Red Orchestra is up there with OFP and Rainbow 6 as far as realism in infantry combat goes. It's in a far different setting than either of them so it has a different fell, but from the ballistics to the player movement to the damage model it really immerses you in the game. The graphics are on par with any other Unreal Engine 2.0 game. If you're looking for veracity as far as infantry squad tactical doctrine goes, though, a multiplayer game (except possibly ArmA/OFP) isn't going to be your best bet, because frankly people aren't often that coordinated in public games. For what it is, though, RO is pretty spectacular.

Re: Forum Looks Dead
Armed Assault is gaining popularity here at TG. The US release in May should bring quite a few new players in to an already established, albeit small, player base. I've dropped off the Arma scene myself but have been following the forum for that title. Many excellent After action reports have been posted by ArmA players.
Currently the Bf2 Project Reality mod is very popular here at TG. the lastest patch for that title saw a huge increase in players. This has been mostly good and we are now running a passworded server twice a week. The password is found in the PRM forums and you simply have to register to the TG forums to get it. Game play on passworded nights has been really good for the most part. Game play on non passworded nights has been spotty sometimes.
The unit I belong too espouses a realistic approach and we'd be glad to have you as a guest anytime in one of our squads. We are always looking for good players who don't mind following orders and sop's...see the link in my sig for more info on the 1st MIP. We are only one of many good inhouse TG squads.|TG-1st|Grunt

Re: Forum Looks Dead
RO and ArmA are all I play. I can't imagine going back to BF2 even with the reality mods. There's just no comparison. You hear me EA?

Thinking of getting back into RO now that the update is out. So where are people playing if not here?
We don't stop playing games because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing games. Anon

Re: Forum Looks Dead
The Best servers to find TG like players are the RTR or Right to Rule. They have spot on Comms and Coordinate attacks, movement and defense. Most player now seem to respect and are drawn to the realism aspect of the game so they want to be tactical in play. You will see this more on Combined Arms and Tank only maps, infantry needs more command.
