    SitReps (situation reports)

    Since there is no commo rose, nor "spotting" in this game, it's going to take a common language for friendlies to understand where an attack is coming from, as well as the size and composition of the attacking force.

    See this map for a view of a typical mini-map.

    You can see where you can replenish ammunition (the red circles with white minus signs in the middle). You can see where destroyable objects are (the red cocentric circles) and which objects have already been destroyed (the grey cocentric circles). On maps with artillery there will also be red radios on the mini-map where you can call in strikes that have already had its coordinates marked by the commander.

    If you also notice, there are letters along the left side of the map, and numbers across the top. Therefore, if you are axis on defense and you just noticed the red cocentric circle turned grey at the North end of the Assembly Hall, you would call out "Door breached at Delta Six, infantry assault expected!!", or thereabouts. You can call out tanks, infantry, armored cars, etc, and try and give the map coordinates as well as a visible landmark so friendlies with their ears on shouldn't get blindsided by an attacking force.

    A=Alpha, B=Bravo, C=Charlie, D=Delta, E=Echo, F=Foxtrot, G=Golf, H=Hotel, I=India

    A little more involved that putting your crosshairs on an enemy and hitting "enemy spotted", but it still gets the job done...

    Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

    My problem is that when I hit my map key to find my coordinates I die.

    Nice post, Coridon! This system is a great way to quickly provide teammates with information on enemy movements. It can be used in any game with a map grid system.
