Team channel: communication templates
I'll volunter a few communication examples for the Team channel. Ideally, general chat should be kept out, and the Local channel is where you should be 90% of the time.
- "Squad A under heavy fire at Bravo 3 - requesting reinforcement"
- "Squad B on its way to Bravo 3"
- "Squad C recons 3 enemy tanks entering Echo 6 from the North"
- "Squad D recons enemy MG at Alpha 2, facing East, asking for sniper support"
----
edited: replaced "templates" with "examples"

Re: Team channel: communication templates
One might argue that those are examples, not templates?

Darkilla: In short, NS is pretty much really fast chess. With guns. Apophis: I haven't seen anyone say that SM's are better than non-SMs. Nordbomber: This is THE first server I've seen where either side can comeback from out of seemingly nowhere with the right teamwork. en4rcment: I have NEVER experienced the type of gameplay that I have found here. Nightly I am amazed at the personalities and gaming talent. Zephyr: Apophis is clearly a highly sophisticated self-aware AI construct that runs on a highly modified toaster oven in Wyzcrak's basement.

Re: Team channel: communication templates
Perhaps some of the excellent Radio and Tactics SOPs in this forum could be of some use.

Excellent - I never played GR, but it seems RO needs the same treatment. Strag, in your opinion, how much of this forums' content is applicable to RO?

If your in local channel, can you hear the team channel? I'm pretty sure you can't so how do we stay coordinated outside of 5 feet?

Re: Team channel: communication templates
The protocol you outline is good but assumes there is a command structure assigning people to squads.
I Don't see how that will play out as it's all been very loose these first two days.

Re: Team channel: communication templates
Quite a bit, I should think. Of course the references to Teamspeak in the Radio SOPs would need to be updated to suit Red Orchestra's VOIP channels, but the concepts definitely apply.

You can hear all 3 channels regardless of the channel you have chosen to speak in.

Re: Team channel: communication templates
Being able to hear all VOIP channels may depend on your VOIP settings. I can hear all channels while I'm in the Local VOIP channel; here are my VOIP settings, for reference.

Re: Team channel: communication templates
The problem right now is that Local gets bugged and you can talk on it but no one will hear you regardless of them being in local or not. It happens to me all the time, confirmed over teamspeak that we are both in local and we can not hear each other.

Thanks - this explains my frustration with the Local channel yesterday evening :-)

Re: Team channel: communication templates
I'm assuming that you're not only both in Local, but also right next to each other? The Local Channel is only audible to players within a certain radius, right?

Re: Team channel: communication templates
I assume that we should use Team unless you verify before your mission that 'Local' is working for you. It seems to work at the start of a round but stop working sometime during the round.

Re: Team channel: communication templates
I think the radius was only 5 meters. Which, frankly, isn't a lot.
