Angry Red Orchestra RESTARTING my computer!

    Wow,

This is insane. I've tried to load RO a number of different ways and each time I try it BSOD/reboots my machine. Apparently this isn't an uncommon problem: their online forums are getting more and more congested with reports of this problem.

    Do you run Zone Alarm?

Nope, hardware firewall. And no way in hell I'm turning it off--not that it stopped my computer from BSOD'ing again when I tried. It's the first day and RO is old and busted. Kind of makes me mad.

I can see that by your avatar!

I have no suggestions. I just wanted to say that.

    Hi Guys,

Wish I had a solution for you, but alas, I've only been having the same problem.

I've had the reboot issue a number of times, after about 20 minutes of gameplay. I've been through the RO forums a lot and seen the issue with zone alarm but like yourself don't run zone alarm, just a hardware firewall. I'm also getting kicked out of map loading back to my desktop with a "texture failed to load" error, but that's another issue.

Gah! I get this too. I run zone alarm free but I'm not so sure that should be a problem when it isn't even a running process - this is also happening to people that don't use zone alarm. If it is becoming an increasing problem, Valve should release a fix for it soon. It's always frustrating when you buy a game and it fails to work as soon as installed.

I'll be removing zone alarm to see if this does fix it, however Valve need to produce a fix as they cannot expect people to remove firewalls just to run their product.

This isn't even Valve's product, man. And by that same reasoning, the firewalls ought to release patches since they can't expect people to have to disable it just to get a game to run

One quick question to those not running ZA - have you EVER run it? If so, go check for some files it fails to remove when you uninstall it. Please don't quote this "publically", but the whole ZA issue seems to be down to it failing to uninstall and/or not actually updating certain driver files because they are protected. For those with hardware firewalls, please make sure the info is on our forums (I'm sure it already is...) as we are trying to carve our way through these effing issues.

Trooper pointed me in this direction: http://www.redorchestragame.com/foru...ead.php?t=5090

It didn't work for me, though.

And I sent you a PM via your forums, Mr. Wilson.

It was a clean install of XP. I had reinstalled the weekend before RO came out, so there were no superfluous processes running or bit's of program. I looked over the forums and I think I know what the problem may be... I'll check when I get home.
