Incompatible version

This has resolved itself now. I am posting this in case someone else has the same issue for both reassurance and bug tracking.

I played RO for a bit last night, showing a housemate of mine the game. Played a few rounds, all good, no probs. I exited the game and went to get some food. About 20 mins later I came back to play properly on server 1. It took a fair while to connect, and then a box flashed up in the background, and wsa quickly replaced by a bar stating that the connection failed. "Another update?" I thought. Exited the game, checked for updates, and none were needed. Reloaded and connected to server 2 just fine. Played for a bit, and tried again on server 1. Same error. This time I hot escape and it revealed the previous box that flashed up, which clearly stated that I could not connect as it was an incompatible version.

Hmmm. Tried server 2 again and it worked just fine. Played with a few of the different guns, learning novel ways of killing myself through ricochets. No-one else joined tho so I tried server 1 again and got in.

Now it could just have been a map funkiness. The map began with K, but I don't remember what it was beyond that. So if you gt a similar problem please list as much detail as you can below to see if we can hunt the bug down!

Re: Incompatible version

The solution to this is posted on the from page of the Red Orchestra website, and also in just about every tech support thread on the RO forums. You hit "File > Change User..." in Steam.

Re: Incompatible version

I had done this; sorry shoulda clarified that bit. I also restarted my computer 3 times incidentally but didn't state that either. The point of the thread was to find some commonality in it's occurence, not to fix it.

Re: Incompatible version

There are at the moment 12 pages on the Red Orchestra official forum, and the problem appears to be greater than expected (the file/change user fix is not working for a lot of people).
