Game ending early "bug"
Several of our rounds over the last 2 nights have mysteriously stopped before the timer ran out, with no winner being declared. It seemed to happen with a minute or so left, so I think we all thought it was a bug. Last night, though, it happened with like 10 minutes to go on Stalingrad in round # 3.
I'm not sure if this is it or not, but something occured to me as a possible cause. I remember discussions on TS on Tuesday about the map timer being set to 40 minutes, yet the rounds were still going for just 20 - or on some maps just 15. It seems that the *round* timer might be hard-coded by the scenario designer and can't be changed without some editing. What I'm thinking then is that the timer setting for the server then isn't per round, but for *total time on that map*. For example - say the timer is set to 40 minutes. Round 1 of Stalingrad goes 10 minutes with a Russian victory. Round 2 goes the 20-minute distance for a German win. Round 3 will be played since the first 2 were split, but will only go around 10 minutes before hitting the timer. The game would then end the round and start the new map selection process. This would probably explain the behaviour we've seen. I haven't seen a "timer bug" mentioned on the official forums so I found it odd we're having it here - maybe it isn't a bug, but a misunderstanding of how the game works. Since it obviously isn't changing round times at this point, maybe we should experiment with putting the timer setting on the server back to default and see if it may be causing the premature end to rounds.

Re: Game ending early "bug"
Pretty sure this happended to me in practice round this morning. There was no announcement of a winner and I was still alive when the game suddenly put everything back to the starting position.

Re: Game ending early "bug"
is there anyway to set a "win limit"
ie first team to get 2 wins (or whatever we choose) wins the map, THEN the map changes? time limits are sometimes rather annoying. |
