Re: The Witcher
Realy like this game. The graphics are great, and the world seems so alive its awesome.
I'm not sure Tarenth but I think the attack on the tavern is scripted to happen, I failed on I know one quest here and my log says I'll have to find anouther source of info.
Honestly the load times are killing the game for me, I'm holding off to see if they patch it. I fear having to enter a building knowing I'll have to exit it sooner or later and will have to wait for a couple of minutes while it loads. I was even reading a book during the load times, its that bad.

Re: The Witcher
It was scripted, but it was a pretty bad scripting. Since the only way to get someone you've pissed off to talk to you again is to leave and come back later I stepped outside and went back inside. The the script played out where apparently in the 3 seconds I spent walking into and out of the door a group of squirrels shot up my contact then ran away...
...Out the front...
...Where I was.
That's just confusing. But I suppose it would make sense if you left and came back an in game hour later or so.My sanity is not in question...
It was a confirmed casualty some time ago.
Light, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I had to kill because they ticked me off.

Re: The Witcher
1.2 patch has been released. Kiss those insane load times goodbye!
Oh, and don't download it from the official site, their servers are wonky and like to cut people off. If you download the patch there and get an error when you try to run it, check and see if the patch is 113.16MB... if it isn't, you know what the problem is.
I suggest downloading it here|TG|Clodhopper - Intelligence is the key, but I'm locked out!

Re: The Witcher
Nice! I almost forgot about this game ever since COD4 was released. Great to hear about the loading times.

Re: The Witcher
Shouldn't, it doesn't mess with any content aside from a few grammar errors

Re: The Witcher
FWIW, I've been playing the hell out of this game for about 2 weeks now. I'm not a huge RPG fan and I could never play games like WoW because the quests and grinding just didn't do anything for me. I was a big fan of Oblivion simply because it was the most immersive RPG I had ever played. Well, at least up to that point. The Witcher is more than a match for it in that department. Graphics (and character models in particular) are outstanding, the world is for the most part believable (as per previous comments), and I love how you are forced to make choices on occasion which can stick with you for the rest of the game. Now it is obviously far more linear than Oblivion which supplied you a whole world to explore. And its not an FPS style combat system...its closer to KOTOR and most other action-RPGs in this respect. There is also no start of game character customization since you are playing a character from the novels which the game is based on. This may bother some people but I thought it was a nice change of pace. Combine that with the great story and graphics and it feels like you are playing a part in a movie sometimes.

The only thing that bums me out on it is the inventory system. Managing it at times can get just plain monotonous. Would be nice if they at least gave you some filters to work with.
Anyhow, just thought I'd chime in here with a recommendation to try the game for those who haven't done so yet.

Aww, I bought the US version of this game a couple of weeks ago at walmart. I guess no poly-boobies for me

Re: The Witcher
I know this is been a bit quiet the past few month or so, but amazing news has just arrived!
The D'jinni Adventure editor has been released, and already several mods have been finished. I don't about all of you, but I'm about ready to test the limits of the D'jinni editor!

Also patch 1.3 was released today!

Oddly enough, I can't seem to find the patch notes anywhere!
Also, apparently the DualMail battles are beginning to really pick up among the crowd. I haven't been able to give the BETA a try, but I wonder what an expansion and PVP will feel like.

Cool, didn't they also say something about an enhanced version being released as well?
