Re: FallOut 3 TALK
I wasn't sure if I would like unarmed combat. How effective is it?

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
Melee is ridiculously powerful too. Unarmed sounds more fun, though.

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
Is there a freakin' flashlight in this game??
OKay phew, I found it. Just hold down TAB (pip button). Over 15 hours in this game and I didn't know that

Took me over 30 hours to figure that out, so don't feel bad. It came up as a tip on one of the loading screens, and I was like, "eh?!" Comes in handy, but completely useless if you're sneaking around.
Anyone else finding this game way too atmospheric and tense to play for more than a couple hours max at a time? I just played through a quest that sent me through a derelict hospital and hotel full of Super Mutants, and my nerves are wracked. It's 12:30am and there's no way I'm going to bed anytime soon. Nothing like coming around a corner and having a Centuar's tentacles flaring in your face!
BTW, here's some screens of my character. Anyone else care to share?

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
Wow, I don't feel so bad now that it took me 8 hours to find out about the flashlight. That came from reading the manual!
The subway sections are pretty creepy when feral ghouls are all over the place. I've had some shockers before blowing their heads to a bloody pulp.

The Dunwich Building in the southwest corner of the map is pretty unnerving, even if you're sporting power armor. Lots of Ghouls and you really can't see more then 5 feet in front of you, even with the Pipboy light on.

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
I'd much rather fight ferals than super mutants.

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
Evo with regards to the Hotel. I was taking a breather in one of the guestrooms (skeleton on the bed). I noticed a "tape" type avatar under the body. I collected it, and it appeared in the PIP-Boy as a recording.
It was a recorded message from the deceased to his little girl, who he knew was never going to see again. It was a rather Poignant moment in the game.
Also, check out Vault 106 - I played this in the dark, and poo'd my pants! Has to be the creepiest place in the game.

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
I hear Harold from 1 and 2 (the ghoul who could talk and eventually had a tree in his head) is in Fallout 3.

Re: FallOut 3 TALK
Wait. There is one more thing I have to know.
Can you become a headsplattering, mutant mutilating, death claw decapitating bare handed badass by getting your unarmed skill high enough?
I always loved beating the irradiated crap out of everyone I came across with my bare hands in Fallout I and II, regardless of how ridiculous it was to be punching holes in powered armor.
