Re: Dragon Age
Man I was really disappointed with events after the landsmeet began. You do all this work only to be forced onto one path with lots of crappy options that were unsatisfying. The final fights were not even all that difficult, with the only thing that was interesting was the side fight were you get sent back to the gate not as the player character, not that it was a good fight but it was just a nice change. I'm about to start my next playthrough so I can do all the things I missed or wanted to try, like Gaxkang.

Re: Dragon Age
SSwitch it around for me. I'm loving my arcane warrior and its ability to lay down all kinds of AoEs and CC while turning on six sustainables and going to town once my mana runs out. While wearing the medium dragonscale armor (which means -13% to mana costs), once shimmering shield and combat magic are on, I've got higher armor, sword dps, and defense than Alistair in his Juggernaut set, plus all the other sustains, such as death aura, miasma, and frost weapons. Even better, if I want to cast spells, I can just turn on blood magic, throw off a few spells, turn blood magic off, and go back to smacking things with spellweaver. Its absolutely fantastic.

Re: Dragon Age
Just finished. Amazing game. They definitely set it up for sequels, or I suppose more DLC. It took me 52 hours to complete it, I wish there was more! I played as a DW Warrior, which accounted for almost half of the parties damage. I wish I went Rogue so I could pick locks, but oh well. My second play through is going to be an Arcane Spellweaver, looks to be quite interesting.

Re: Dragon Age
Your post is good timing...I was just reading about this at the Bioware forums. It really strikes me as a flaw in the game design or just an outright bug. They shouldn't allow abilities to be activated if you don't have the stamina/mana available for them and they for sure shouldn't give you that stamina "back" when you deactivate them.
Of course, with an Arcane Warrior you do have the stamina to activate all this stuff ahead of time and apparently your defensive bonuses make you virtually unkillable.
Anyhow, for stuff like this it's easy to just not do it if you don't think it is "right".
You can read whatever you want into it.

Damn...the time on my save file was 70 hours my first play through and that of course doesn't count reloads. lol Granted I bought the Collector's Edition so that includes getting Shale and going through Warden's Keep.

Shayle is awesome. Still one of my favorite characters. She's too cool.

Re: Dragon Age
This game is nothing short of stellar. At first i was weary of another medieval rpg that seems to rehash but boy did bioware really wow them on this one. Plus you got tons of mods.
Anyone modding? Maybe we need a dragon age forum?
I managed to slay the dragon on normal but gaxkang whooped me. Something tells me you certain a certain damage type for him, maybe a blood mage?
Anyway i played a vanilla with no expansion dalish elf rogue and it was quite good. Now i'm playing through as a human noble warrior on hard with some insane to spice it up. It's much better on the second play through as on the first for some reason i was really gunning to get after the main story.

Re: Dragon Age
The second time is probably better because you're already familiar with the game mechanics. I know my use of the tactics was much better. I played each of the classes and found the Warrior to actually be the easiest of course that was my third play through.
But I think your ability to soak damage while at the same time controlling aggro makes a huge difference. There were stretches where I didn't even have a Mage which was kind of nice in order to get some NPC pairings I wouldn't have otherwise got.
Not sure if I'll bother with the expansion. I got my appetite sated enough with the vanilla game in order to wait for a gold package and the mods to mature.

Re: Dragon Age
Yeah i really have to recommend the DLC. There are also quite a few good mods right now.
To name a few I started using.
Bash Lock
Advanced Tactics
The camp storage chest
I'm looking for a few new locations now as well or some good quests. probably make a few of my own too. I had an idea to do the spider cavern outside lothering. I killed those spiders and thought, why can't i go in the cave!
