Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
We don't have a Borderlands-specific group. I know TG mods can get a bit touchy about outside groups, but we're all buddies here. If anyone objects to my post, they may delete it and stomp on my broken heart.
Among Euros, Lyra is definitely getting it. I am trying to talk Concr3te, Duke and Darksteel into buying it. Pablo, L10N, Snail, Zoopy and Conscript might as well be Euros, since they never seem to work. I have palmed off a bunch of work to the poor office assistant, so I'll be playing plenty.
If you can handle the swearing and transvestite jokes, you're welcome to tolerate our presence.Last edited by asch; 10-30-2009 at 01:29 AM. Reason: Come on bom... you know better.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
Um, Gearbox games over the last 3 years or so are all basically crummy console ports with little to no dedicated server support and pathetic post-release patch support. I'm in no way trying to stick up for IW with that statement, but gearbox games have set the bar for terrible PC support that IW seems to be reaching for as far as "mainstream games" go.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
Game crashes like crazy for me.

The hungry, ignorant man immediately grasps that he is handed a fish, but is bewildered when handed a net. The man who shivers in the cold thinks happily of the man who invites him to sit by his fire, and somewhat poorly of the man who loans him an axe, flint and steel.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
I bought it for the X-Box. It seemed more suited as a console game, despite the fact that I have to use a controller for an FPS.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging the game either, just speaking about Gearbox's past record. Gearbox has made good games before, so it wouldn't shock me if this one is good but all their games are just console ports.
BTW, dont forget to turn the "aim helper" off on the pc version. (I'm not joking, that's how much of a console port their games usually are that they dont even bother to remove things like that for their PC games.)

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
WARNING this game is a mindless shooter with little to no tactical value. Furthermore while there are rpg elements nearly all skills are passive..... oh and "vehicles are fail sauce" per blackmain
Had a great coop with blackmain last night and later with one of his buddies. A few problems with getting the round started, trying to get everyone connected. Still it only took us less than a minute befor we were playing. I personally had no crashes or other errors that I could speak of. There is an auto aim helper but I didn't bother me enough to go and look for the off switch. If your a loot junkie this is the game for you. All baddies drop loot and you can open dam near everything. This is a coop game, yeah you can play singleplayer but it really shines the more people you have. There is not really an indepth story line but some of the quest givers have some colorfull dialect. Warning crude humor inside. Overall this game is "AWSOME"
On a further note I should be playing for most of the night starting around 3pm CST. I made a borderlands channle in ts, and will be in there for anyone who wants to join.18th SFOD Executive OfficerTG Arma Spartan No. 11

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
I am having a lot of fun with this game. I don't think it's completely mindless as you will get szhwacked repeatedly if you just run in gunz'a'blazing.
I honestly don't want this game to end. It's a nice retreat from the serious fps (ArmA) type games I usually prefer. Hopefully they will continue to release new dlc regularly.
I have had zero crashes at 2560x1600 with everything maxed. It's glorious looking. Wish it could host more then 4. I really see the influence of BioShock in BL-which is great, afaic.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?
There's no tactical whats-it-stuff, but there is strategy, especially in synergizing with your teammates if you're playing COOP.
