Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?

"Diablo with guns" doesn't give the game as much praise as I think it deserves, but I think it's an applicable description.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?

I wish I could Like it..but seems like a Loot Hunt... Go get this..go get that... The weaps seem a bit "Mushy" and the Enemies seem a bit..oh..graphically fuzzy.. (I made that up..!) .. . It's very early in the game..maybe Friday I can get the time to really dig into it..
I almost just bought The Witcher in disgust to give that a shot.. I am wasting too much money on this stuff.. ;-) Damn you STEAM!! (I really luv you tho..)

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?

I'm at level 16-17 and just played through the Sledge boss encounter with two buddies.
Fighting your way into the derelict mine compound-AWESOME.
Use tactics to pick best ground to fight from, pre-plan where to fall back to, optimize the use of the individual class skills, sniper rifles are incredible, (I have what can only be a .50 cal explosive tip sniper rifle-I've seen crit damages over 1200pts! Brilliant! Blows the top of the body off in a great shower of gibb gloriousness!)
Yeah, it's not realistic, I knew that going in- but it is like being in a SciFi graphic novel or movie.
Maybe it doesn't have much re-playability potential, but if they release new content I'll buy it for sure.
Addiction comes to mind...Great game.
Fun scale, 10 being best, 9.9999
Oh yeah, no crashes experienced yet. Silk smooth. In game von almost as clear as TS.

I played that mission w/ Undead and another buddy. Too fun!!! I'm going out on a limb to give it a 10 out of 10.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?

This is important.
Although characters at different levels can coop, it is critical that the lowest level player host the game .
This is the only way to ensure that character will not miss the important plot quests.
Maybe I'm totally wrong but from playing a bunch it appears true.

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?

Agreed Warprophet, me and my mates could join together so i joined another game, me (lvl 8) two other lvl 8s and a lvl 11, i had no idea what was going on, i levelled up got like 3 new guns started and finished 4 quests within 5 minutes.

Then when i went back to single player i had level 16 enemies hunting me down, which ium guessing transfered over from the coop

So pissed off, cant do half the quests now because i run out of bullets/die all the time, and it just autosaves me right in the middle of it all

I've been thinking about picking it up today. It looks pretty good! I don't have a huge amount of gaming time or anything, but it looks like it could be amusing!

Re: Borderlands? Thoughts?

I'm having a blast with the game on PC, even though there are a few console hold-over problems, such as the crummy in-game voice support. Definitely look at a 3rd party voice option. I personally use steam's voice-chat system, which works perfectly fine, and it only took us about 5 minutes to figure out how quietly to talk so that the in-game wasn't picking it up.

For those having issues hosting private games on PC, here is a sure-fire method that has worked for me and my friends:

Create a lobby, invite everybody. It will time out, when it does, host quits lobby, recreates, and invites everybody again. Should join pretty much instantly.

There's a lot of stuff about port forwarding, but I've not had to do any of it and I'm behind a horrible qwest modem/router and have successfully hosted with this method. Works perfect because me and my roommate can connect to my other buddies game fine under this scenario.
