Re: Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
I dont know if you guys feel this way since you all have put much more time into RPGs than I have...
Does anyone know if I can replace all the low-end creatures (cave rats, etc) with more respectable monsters and even NPCs? I am planning to get the game soon but am really tired of fighting rats, flies, and crabs in RPGs nowadays.
Also, does Bethesda plan on OFFICIALLY allowing more RAM usage for the game? I'm kind of disappointed that this game has been console-ized, but I guess that means my decent PC (core i5-750 + HD6870) will last much longer than I anticipated.
Thank you!

Re: Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
Christophorus, sadly you will have to wait for a mod such as MMM for this as Bethesda moved away from their static creature, NPC, and item levels of Morrowind to a player-level dependent system. Now, the only way to fight higher-end creatures is to become a higher level yourself, unless you count bosses at the end of caves, and specific quest creatures.

Heard this patch caused all sorts of new problems, like Dragon's flying backwards!

Re: Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
It's a beautiful game with great optimization. It almost looks like Oblivion + QTP3 + Shaders, but with better meshes and models. The best part is almost anyone with a dual core or better computer can run it at high with a fantastic framerate.

Re: Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
Macleod those shots were with some graphical mods that I picked up at Skyrim Nexus, though I agree stock is very nice.
I am currently running
Better females by Bella
Better sorting
Enhanced Distant Terrain
Improved NPC clothing - High Res
Enhanced Blood Textures
Nightingale Prime (Nightingale Armour Hi Res retexture pack)
No More Blocky Faces
Realistic Smoke and Embers
RWT - Realistic Water Textures
4GB Skyrim Patch
Skyrim HD - 2K Textures
Vurts Skyrim Overhaul
XCE - Xenius Character Enhancement
and still looking to add more.
If anyone is thinking of using mods I would highly recommend the Nexus Mod Manager which acts as a download manager and launcher. Just make sure you run the 4GB Large Address Aware patch and enter "skyrim4gb" on the last page of the setting tab in the command line space. This ensure the 4GB patch launches correctly. Otherwise you will tend to crash.

Re: Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
Yes 4GB is an essential mod. I also like SkyUI and Enhanced Night Skyrim.

You can find information on many in progress mods (a lot of the main ones from Oblivion & Morrowind are being recreated) at the official forums as well; you mentioned using Vurt's mods, you should check out what he did for Morrowind, those were beautiful as well.
I find it interesting Nexus is making their own mod manager instead of a separate general Skyrim Mod Manager. They are probably trying to get more traffic to run planetelderscrolls out of business in the Skyrim field.

Re: Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim
Cool thanks for the extra info. A question for you Macleod.
I found an old copy of Elder Scroll III: Morrowind. GOTY Edition on my shelf, don't think I have ever installed it. Is it worth a go after I've done with Skyrim (if I ever tire of it lol). If so are there some must have mods bearing in mind its a few years old now and I do like my pretty textures lol. Any steer on that would be much appreciated.
