Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Hmmm thats one ive actually done, the secret i found was getting close. I tried pounding him at dstance with my "electro-stick" but he has much better ranged weapons so just spawn camp him and start whaling as soon as he comes in. I had to use a soulstone to enchant my sword with fire or something to stand a chance...

My glass bow can do damage with iron arrows. I think it's silver or better.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
did you buy said horse? if so, you should be able to go to any stable in any city and he'll be hanging out right outside... (unless that's an artifact of a funky fresh mod i installed unknowingly)
if it's lucious' steed, then yeah, your febucked...
we'll try the >= silver bow soon then...

Yeah, he's legit. I just installed a couple more mods tho, maybe one of them screwed him up.
I'm still playing my original character, and have yet to take the amulet to jauffre. I just got vampirism from fighting some wench, and I find it really annoying.|TG-12th| Boot

I keep all of mine in the house at the waterfront for easy access. I have something like 150k worth of magic crap in my bottomless box, none of which I have much use for and I'm too lazy to pawn it off (not that I need to anyway, I own everything I could want to buy)

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Well, I went an done it. I got this game and it certainly is awesome.
Question. For how long were the "tips" popping up when you began playing this game. I started off playing and whenever I tried something new a "help box" would appear and explain the new thing to me. Once I downloaded and installed the patch I havn't seen any more helps boxes. For example I havn't been taught how to haggle. It's not really a big deal because the manual has lot's of information, I just don't want to miss anything about this game!

Here's something cool I found the other day: If you like stealing (and who doesn't?), try going into the sewers beneath the Imperial City. Most shops have a basement, and you can get into that via the sewers. Phat loot for all!

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Well, im very, very dissapointed with this game.
First off - When the game came out, alot of people had problems just installing the game. Others could install, but not run the game.
While I didnt have problems, a good friend of mine did.
Second - Level scaling, its terrible, pick a VH chest at level 1, YAY!!! 3 gold!.
Theres a mages guild quest, where you're supposed to get a book, you have the option of giving it to someone else, and when you do, she tells you how to get "The ultimate power", doing so at level 5 gives you a spell - 10 shock dmg in a 3 foot radius! Huzzah! Hit level 10, omg bandits now wear glass armor, merchants carry elven blades!
Please, dont tell me to use a mod to fix level scaling.
Third - RAI is terrible, just a ton of complex scripts.
NPC 1 - "[Insert words here]"
NPC 2 - "[Insert response to NPC 1]"
5 minutes later
NPC 1 - "[Insert words said 5 minutes ago here]"
NPC 2 - "[Insert response said to NPC 1 5 minutes ago here]"
Very dynamic!
Fourth - The game got dumbed down for the console. You cannot name saves. When you open your inventory to figure out how much damage a weapon does, you get a simple number like 2, 3, or 4. On Morrowind you had 15-24 damage.
.
Fifth - The Arena was way to easy, I was able to complete every challenge at level 6, without having to load once.
/yawn
Sixth - When you try and kill someone in their house, guards that shouldn't be able to hear the person scream for help, do.
.
Seventh - I get terrible mouse lag, even with everything set to low, making it impossible to aim anything.
.
Just my views.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
*casts raise dead instead of starting a new post*
Well, after my recent Real Life Move, I wanted to take a break from normal FPS's (I'll be back to Dys later guys, don't worry, just need a breather). Thus, I have started up Oblivion again. I was going to continue my old characters but I was in the middle of so many quests that I figured I'd just go ahead and restart the game. I also patched up to the new version, bought the expansion packs, and started looking for the best mods.
Let's go over some of the major ones I use shall we?
Unoffical Oblivion Patch - This mod is a fix for a ton of issues the real patch doesn't fix. Nothing really game changing, it's alot of mod fixes all packaged together.
OOO 1.3 - This is the big one. One of the largest mods for oblivion and one of the bests. It reworks and rebalances a ton of the game (fixing alot of the things Kamer was mentioning earlier). It adds in 1000's of new items, all hand placed. It fixes dungeons, adds new monsters and animals, new NPC's, tons of new content. It's a really beautiful piece of work.
Living Economy - This mod makes shopping a better experience. Now, like in Morrowwind, merchants don't have unlimited gold. Also a merchant's merchantile skill goes up the more buisness they do, lowers the less interaction they have. The prices of items varry depending on the amount of them for sale in the world. Flood the market with goods... end up not getting as much for those items later on. It also means shopping around is more important. Also shops will no longer just buy anything. Weapon and armor shops will pay good for weapons and armor, but will pay little for other items. Really evolves the game.
I'm also running things like Unlimited Night Eye for Kajit's, some mods that add glasses, samurai weapon and armor, realistic weather, a different night sky, and a few two dozen others. I'm also running a mod that allows my skills to raise over 100, granting myself a larger level range if I choose.
Currently I'm running two characters, about to run a third. My main is a Kajit Assassin. Gotta say, posioning all your arrows and swords is so much fun when you want to take people out in one shot one kill. He's also a hunter when he wants to earn some extra cash. With the unlimited night eye (hey it makes sense for kajit's) hunting animals at night is much easier. I'm also running a female imperial Spellsword. She's an arena warrior, which isn't something easy to do in OOO. OOO really boosts the skills of people you fight and makes combat more lethal.
The third character I'm thinking about starting is going to be a pure conjurer. Going to focus on having minions do my bidding and see how far I get. I'm thinking dark elf with their natural ancestor spirit power.
I'm having alot of fun playing the game now, but I seem to always avoid the main quest like the plague.
Not for the Glory. Not for the Honor. For the Team.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Try this mod to enhance the weather effects (WARNING; the night time is really dark... you will want to bring torches or even find a camp and sleep through it!)
