    Visual Novels

Alright I guess this would be the most approprate place to post about visual novels. Granted they aren't really role playing games but close enough for the time being. Basically a visual novel is a game where you mainly read and you get to make choices that affect the story line. They tend to feature anime style drawings on static backgrounds.

The wikipedia entry explains it alot better then I did. (I think)

Hirameki is a company that (I believe in 04) started to translate and release some visual novels in the US .

They have PC and DVD games at there site and do have demos.

This is the link for Ever 17 The Out of Infinity. It is the 1st VN i have purchased and I got it about two weeks ago. There is a demo out for it and I basically highly recommend it.

Here is a review for it.

As a side note just be warned that the main "fun" for these games comes from the story. There is no gameplay other then the choices they give you.

    Re: Visual Novels

I know these as "choose your own adventure" books.... these are classics. There are generally several ways to go... these are as close to RPG books as you can get I beleive. Good post!

    Re: Visual Novels

^^^^Yes that is a good way of putitng it.

I just ordered a few more from Hirameki. The ones I ordered were on DVD and can work in any DVD player. I prefer it being a computer game though since I can install it on my laptop and I can use it for games. (Cheap Intel graphics in my laptop so I can only game on old stuff.)

They should be here next week hopefully I will be done with Ever 17 by then. (Or rather I hope I am not done. While this game is really long I wish it was longer.)

There is a summer sale going on buy one PC or DVD game (link has list) and get one of the listed DVD games for free.

My collection of VNs has increased a bit as well. I now have Day of Love, Amusement Park, and Hourglass of Summer. I am also currently testing out some of the other games released by another US company. I will be buying some as soon as my budget permits.

Biggest news for me atleast is that I have imported Kimiga Nozomu Eien, Fate/Stay Night, and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. I have been taking Japanese classes again but I doubt I will be able to fully play through these games for awhile.
