Re: Titan Quest - News, Forums!!!!!!!!!!
After playing Defense/Dream up to level 16, I can say the healing abilities in Defense so far are outstanding. Once you hit mastery level 4 in Def., you get Adrenaline and Rally. Adrenaline has a 15% chance of activating every time you get hit by an enemy, and will heal 5hp/second (it seems to activate quite often though and the healing is noticeable). Should couple well with the level 10 skill in that synergy, which I can't remember what it's called but it increases the chance of Adrenaline being activated.
The other level 4 skill, Rally, basically exchanges a little energy for a lot of HP. My first point into the skill somehow gave me 3 points (I think due to a piece of equipment I have that specifically boosts Rally), and I added another two points because I like it so much. I get around 600hp when its cast, plus some defensive bonuses, I think. The recharge takes a while, but I think it only uses around 50 energy. It really lets you hang in the fight. It's actually way to easy right now, I'm having no problems even against bosses and am rarely falling below half health. Really no need for potions with Rally, so I have something like 70 on my char right now (need to visit a caravan).
Highly recommend Templar so far. The offensive powers in Dream seem overpowered... the skills in the tree with Phantom Strike and Psyonic Touch make them hit multiple enemies, so when I do a PS it will kill 4 guys simultaneously if they're within 10 meters of eachother.
Maybe it gets tougher later on in the game.Last edited by Evo<^|SiNz|^>; 08-16-2008 at 12:52 AM. Reason: typo

Re: Titan Quest - News, Forums!!!!!!!!!!
wait till you get into the higher difficulties...youll get so owned so fast youll wonder what hit you. This game is very gear dependant on the higher levels. You will curse the demon archers in act 4

As for a good templar build, i usually go with the trance of convelesnce for the healing and dmg reduction. Its generally the best aura for anyone. I would only put one point into adrenaline just so you can max out defensive reaction (i think thats what its called) for max dmg. The healing even at max level is paltry and not worth 12 points. Rally can be useful in parties, but why put points into something you can spend gold on and pick up? (potions). Id rather put points into quick recovery (a MUST) TQ shields suck without this skill cuz they have a 3 second cooldown before they can block again. This skill makes shields godly.
As for the rest...since your using PS, you dont need batter or charge. Max out armor handling ASAP for armor absorption, and max out pulverize ASAP. with a high lvl shield you will OWN groups. And make sure you up colossus form when you can...great for bosses. The aura that the defender has (forget the name) is really good too. Just put a point into the bottom node then max out the skill that ups your chance to block and get iron will up as high as you can. You will not believe how important stun resistance is.
so basically the only skills to max in defense is defensive reaction, armor handling, quick recovery, and pulverize. And colossal form eventually.
As for dream, dont even bother with psonic touch as youll have pulverize. Get rid of distortion wave, thats for casters. Max phantom and its other node ASAP. And max out distortion wave and its other node ASAP. one point in the pet with one point in hypnotic gaze is great to keep guys off of you. max out the trance of convalescence ASAP. Lucid dream is a must as well as the one that ups offensive and defensive ability. And temporal flux is a must too. Youll be stretched thin with skill points so try to get the skills that are always active maxed first, like armor handling and the trance.
Im a self proclaimed expert in TQ as Fat Kid can tell you...ive dumped more than 500 hrs prolly into this game and have done every build you can think of....if you have a question, dont be afraid to ask me. Good luck and have fun...it really is a great game.
EDIT - Also, heres what you should be going for as far as resistances go - (in order of importance)
1. Piercing
2. Fire
3. Poison
4. Lightning
5. Cold
I can not emphasize enough how important piercing resistance is. Arrows will be the bane of your existence on higher difficulties because it goes right through your armor. With max pierce resist, youll have a fighting chance. Fire is second only because its the most seen element in the game. Poison can be a real bitch too but its not seen that often. Lightning and cold you really dont have to worry about.
