Re: Hurt during call, cop sues victim's family

Hmm. I've read a post from a user at that news website that goes into detail on Officer Eichhorn's character. If it can be believed, then it lends great credence to what Ferris said about the Casselberry PD officers' commenting about Eichhorn.

Now I remember why I hate people.

Keep in mind though that anyone can sue for anything. She could have asked for damages because the color of their kitchen walls offended her sensibilities.

Doesn't mean a judge won't throw it out at first glance.

Re: Hurt during call, cop sues victim's family

So if I have a fire in my house and the firemen come to rescue me, they can sue me when one of their members gets injured by fire/debris/structural failure?

Not that a fireman would ever do that.

Absolutely.

And if you have hazardous materials without warnings, they might have a case too.

This officer is a disgrace to the badge. We know the risks when we sign on the dotted line. This is also what workman's comp is for. Stupid stupid stupid.

Exactly. Where I live, if you have over a certain amount of ammo and/or gunpowder, you need to go to the fire department and let them know what you have. The last thing they want is to go into your basement that is on fire, then have a nice fireworks show of flashing gunpowder and ammo going off.

Re: Hurt during call, cop sues victim's family

guess the pressure and the stupidity of it all finally got to her:

Quote:
CASSELBERRY – A police sergeant who sued a family with a baby who suffered severe brain damage from a near drowning because the officer slipped and fell in a puddle of water at the house will drop the lawsuit, her attorney said late this afternoon.

Attorney David Heil, who represents Casselberry Police Sgt. Andrea Eichhorn, said he plans to file paperwork to that effect as early as Friday.

The city also reported today that it has placed Eichhorn on leave.

The police department would not explain why she was removed from duty. In a prepared statement, the department said it did so after a controversy over the suit caused it to review the incident.

Eichhorn sued the mother and grandparents of Joey Cosmillo, 22 months, on Oct. 1, alleging negligence. The suit says she slipped and fell in water that was left on the floor because the boy had been brought inside.

Eichhorn broke her kneecap and missed two months of work because of the Jan. 9 incident. Her medical bills and pay during that time were covered by the city or its insurance carrier.

Eichhorn’s attorney David Heil was not immediately available for comment.

A check of the court file at noon indicated the status of the suit had not changed.

City Manager Barbara Lipscomb, in a prepared statement, said she wanted to encourage Casselberry residents to continue to call 911 when there is an emergency.

When the hell did i bring up hazardous material or ammunition. So you're saying the fire department can sue someone if they have a fire and a fireman gets injured?

Again, Yes. Anyone can sue anyone for anything.

You asked a hypothetical question, I answered it, then followed up with another hypothetical situation that realistically is more likely to result in a lawsuit.

I thought I avoided ambiguity in my one word response, but the answer is still yes. You can get sued by a fire fighter for injuries sustained.

Anyone can sue anyone for anything.

I can sue Apophis for damages after I got frustrated on the server and punched my keyboard, I can sue someone for giving me negative rep, I can sue someone for showing pictures of kittens with a funny caption.

I can file a lawsuit against anyone for anything.

It still doesn't mean a judge won't toss it out at first glance.
