@ Delta: I'm hoping your meaning that it's BS of the somewhat biased media attention playing the race card at first chance they get (if so I agree), if you mean that it's BS that the family wants justice for something like this that happened (after a man already cuffed gets tasered to death then put in a squad car, taken to police station and tasered twice more) then thats just ****ed up.

I'm surprised the crowd didnt jump that cop and y'know, give him a taste of his own medicine. From what I can see in the video they would've been outnumbered, since there was only two other cops nearby. He certainly deserved it. But they took away his badge, and hopefully he'll be fired soon, so hopefully justice is served.

The officer was stripped of his gun and badge and is awaiting futher review/investigation.
BUT this only happened because there was video evidence.
Had there not been a video clearly recording the incident, the biker would probably have had to face all sorts of trumped charges and it would have resulted in fines, potential prison time, and a permenant record.

This 'officer' should face some criminal charges of his own, but I doubt it'll happen.

Excessive, but it doesn't show why this bicycle rider was singled out. If the cop wanted to knock a bike rider over, he had 999 other riders to choose from. He was very selective in his choice (almost getting run over by a different bike to reach the one he checked to the ground).

My guess? The camera was a plant, and that particular cop was chosen as the fall guy. The biker rides past him, each time saying something derogatory or insulting (the type of things you don't say to cops lest you not fear getting arrested). The biker refuses to get off his bike despite repeated warnings/orders, the cop loses it, snaps, and knocks the guy off. All of it is captured on tape. Critical Mass gets to be the victim and gets a crapload of publicity when the media virtually convicts him in the public eye.

Gill that is a stretch --- and even if that were true the officer still needs to issue an order to stop. The cop had his back turned to the guy until he was very close at which point he made no motions or any other form of communication. He just went to town on this unfortunante biker. Then take a look at all the charges they slapped the guy with -- clearly BS.

If what you said was true this would be the equivalent of a cop watching you speeding to work while cursing every day, so one day he rams your car off the road.

I would've thought that the excessive kookiness of that "theory" would've hit someone's sarcasm detector. :P

My actual theory? The asshat did something flagrantly wrong, prompting the camera person to pull out whatever video-capture device he/she had handy to film what would happen to the guy. You can see that the cops in the video were locked on and tracking the biker all the way in. Whether or not we - the onlookers - thought the guy purposely steered into the cop or not (watch the cop's face and you can see that he's ordering the dude to stop or something to that effect); what matters is if the cop thought the biker was purposely steering into him.

Everyone wants cops to be tough on crime, and then cries and whines when they see an arrest. Criminals and troublemakers don't want to be arrested. What the **** was the cop supposed to do? Jog alongside the bicyclist and plead with him to get off so that he can make the arrest? :P

Until a full video - if one exists - gets released, I hold judgement. If the biker was blocking traffic and making an ass out of himself and endangering others, then the dumbass deserved the faceplant. Yes, that's right, guys. Deserved it. I hate piss-head troublemakers who think they're immune from following the rules.

maybe all the police departments should just not go to work for a day......then all those people who dislike the P.D. so much will realize that they need their protection and help much more than they think they do.........plus if you really hate the cops then you have some serious issues to deal with and i hope you get help.....i haven't seen the video, but if it was on purpose then he'll be reprimanded, if the cyclist ran into him and pulled a european soccer injury move then the cyclist got what he deserved....

give the police a pat on the back for all the crap they deal with day in and day out wherever and whenever they are on duty.

The cop had his back to the guy until 5 seconds before he hit him.
If there was a valid reason to stop him the cop must issue an order, not just attack.

We do want tough on crime. We want that criminal police officer brought to justice.

You piss and moan about there not being enough video to make a determination but you call the biker an 'asshat' who did something flagrantly wrong despite the fact that there is nothing to indcate that whatsoever.

Where is the piss head trouble maker? What is suggestive of this? The only person who didnt follow the rules is the COP! Even if the biker was doing something asshat like, the officer did not have cause to assault him. The rules say that he must issue legal order to stop in order to initiate an arrest, unless of course there is some kind of exigent circumstance that threatens the safety of others. There was no such cause as is evident by the testimony of witnesses and the fact that the officer was discharged of duty.

What an outrageous thing to say. Why do we need help because we dont like a group of people who consistently abuse us? POLICE NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. who cares that they "risk their lives"? Does that mean we should allow them to do whatever they want? If you are going to just allow authority figures to do what the want when they want then why dont we just rip up the Constitution and be done with it? I DONT NEED THEIR PROTECTION. They didnt protect my house from being robbed or stop me from getting mugged. But if I had had a gun then I would have been able to protect myself. I welcome the police to not come into work. They are spending half their time arresting people for stupid stuff like drugs anyway. We dont need corrupt police with no controls running amuk in our communities. If on the other hand we were to revamp the training of police in this country including proper classes on Constitutional law and stricter control standards then I will welcome them into my town.
