Lets put it in a frame of reference we can all understand here:
We have hundreds upon hundreds of people that come through our servers and get banned for acting like idiots. Likewise, there are thousands of abusive server admins out there, thankfully, none here. So do we act with suspicion when looking at anyone that comes in because they might be a bad seed? Of course not. That would be completely ridiculous.

Police officers are cast in a bad light for every isolated incident that happens. So you have a couple of cops in denver that abuse a citizen (who had committed an act of assault on another person by his own admission, I remind you). Does this mean all denver cops are bad? No. Does it mean all cops in colorado, or the US are bad? No. But there are those people who are going to see it that way.

Interesting that the same people who cry "innocent until proven guilty" are the same ones who condemn all police officers due to the aberrant actions of a very small few.

Take the "funny" thing in context. It's funny to me for the reason below. Not so funny for the victims.

The messages mentioned in the text article seem pretty inoccuous, but if you watch the video, the reporter says that there are apparently lots more whihc are too vulgar to read on TV.

One of the officers mentioned, Nick Caito, is the guy my ex-fiance was going out with her freshman year of college. She broke up with him about 4 months before she started dating me (this was 6-7 years ago). When talking about how their relationship ended one time, she said he just started to get creepy and develop strange tendencies. I met the guy once, complete d-bag who wanted to be a cop because (and I quote from his own words) he was "too dumb to do anything else in college".

We both agreed that western PA has the ability to drive people out of their minds.

Just taking the analogy of admins and saying that they don't have the power to physically abuse and/or arrest people just because they want to, and they don't have the duty of upholding laws.

When a policeman beats someone into the ground, it's not on the same level as banning someone from a forum.

Anywhooo, I think we all agree that there are policepeople who go out and do their jobs, and do them properly, and do them for the right reasons. In the same way we all agree that there are a few too many jackasses out there, and from my personal experience I've met nothing but jackass policemen.

It's a little too easy to find these types of things isn't it? And all these ones on Youtube and the few you hear or see on the news are probably just a small proportion of them.

I don't think many here would argue with you on that point. However, what do you think would happen in this instance had there not been a camera rolling? How many people do you think are in jail on false charges because there wasn't a camera rolling? Would internal affairs have opened an investigation against these bad cops had there not been evidence that they couldn't overlook? There are bad apples in every profession. Unfortunately, when the police act like they are above the law, they ruin peoples' lives and create a great sense of mistrust. When they cover for each other and allow the cycle to perpetuate, that feeling grows.

And how many cops lives have been ruined due to edited videos being submitted to the media to be broadcast? You know the ones that just show the force in which an officer has to use to detain a suspect but it is conveniently edited not to show that the suspect had just swung at the officer or pulled a knife and took a swipe at the officer. Goes both ways bro
