I'm so pissed I'm literally considering going out and look for some po(lice) to beat up. I've had many bad experiences since I was as young as I could remember with police but this guy almost wins the price for biggest dumbass of all of them.

First, let me repeat the words said before the manhandling of the 14 year old kid.

Officer Dumbass: (something to the effect of) - Did you hear what I said about skating over here.

Kid no. 1: Yh I tried to tell him but he had his earphones in...

Note: Was he disobeying the law? Maybe we should ban earphones and not allow any noise ever anywhere in the whole world so Mr. God Complex can make sure everyone within a hundred miles can hear his overweight screams. of stupidness.

Officer Dumbass: That's what I'm saying, take your earplugs out of your ears (their not ear-plugs jackass). Can you hear me now? Hey! I'm talking to you.

Kid no. 2 (aka thew guy that got owned): What?

Officer Dumbass: Can you hear me now?

Kid no. 2: Yeah.

Officer Dumbass: Don't get defensive with me son.

Note: WTF ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT YOU OVERWEIGHT PIECE OF S**T!!! And before anyone gives me any bs about "the way he said it," please direct me to the law, or the part of the American constitution that says you have to talk to an officer with a certain pitch, tone and expression of your voice.

At this point, if Mr Egotistical didn't want to get his overlarged head slightly deflated by a couple of kids, he could have just said "don't give that bs/tone, just do as I say and carry on - and carry on. Even that's not necessary, the kid realised what he was doing wrong, and he said he understood. Do you really expect a kid to stand there in front of his friends and say "YES SIR, THANKS FOR PUTTING ME IN MY PLACE " - looked like the guy wanted a 1000 word apology written in the kids blood.

Officer Dumbass:...or you could spend some wtfeva time in juvenile.

Now that's just a f-ing lie. I think this idiot likes throwing his weight around (in more ways than one), probably gets some sort of satisfaction of taking out his frustrating problems on kids that can't do anything about it (such as looking worse than cow's ass - Probably can't see his **** over his stomach either), could you see him shouting at and lecturing a guy like this who was the same age as him...and even if he did the guy would probably put up more of a resistance against such unreasonable stupidness (What some of the guys on here have said to cops (at the ages of supposed maturity that they're at now) are an entire richter scale more disrespectful than what the kid said, and they've gotten away with it because they're making decent points and they won't take **** from another person.) This kid was probably just too scared/intimidated, and didn't realise how badly he was being treated and just accepted it without too much protest, but the little protests he did make were enough to set Fatty mcstupidson on a lecture mission about "respect" that any idiot would be proud of. Those cojones are probably even harder to see because they're practically non-existent.

Officer Dumbass: You're not allowed to ride your skateboards down here. Nowhere!

Kid 2: OK I didn't hear you.

Kid 2: [interrupting Officer Dumbass] Yh well I don't have a father.

Dumbass [Screaming]: SHUT YOUR MOUTH I'M TALKING!!! [This guy wouldn't be a very good children's councilor]

Kid 1: Eric (aka Kid 2), shut up dude.

Dumbass [Still screaming like he gets orgasms from telling off kids]: WHERE ARE YOU FROM?!?!

Kid 2: Me...I didn't do anything...

Officer Dumbass goes towards kid - And 2 seconds later I'm so pissed at what the guy's doing I could walk to balti-f-in-where-ever-more and open this guys face up with a hammer.

Why does he take the skateboard again? I suppose it was a danger to the people around, you know. Then he chucks the guy to the floor, and when he tries to get up, this mass of fat screams in the kids face and pushes him back to the floor. After what the dumbass had just done for no particular reason, I wouldn't have been surprised if he thought his head was about to get kicked in.

What's pissed me off so much about this is not the fact that the kid got attacked, blah blah, that stuff happens all the time. It's that a stupid SOB like this is doing some sort of sadistic child abuse, without any repercussions, due to the badge, and telling people that he was doing it to "serve and protect", and I've seen this kinda abuse of power (though not as extreme as this) before . And what's more he knows that he can get away with it. They all do. If you'd seen this happen, but the guy hadn't been wearing a piece of metal on his shirt, would you have reacted the same way? So then the next question becomes, was there a reason for him to do this? Did the kid actually do anything wrong? The best thing the guy can come up with for his irrational and unjustifiably stupid behavior is to hang onto this "dude" and "respect" thing (which is really weak), because he can't explain his actions (without looking stupid). He says he wants to talk to his mum, but what's he going to say. "You're son obeyed my orders. Then I screamed at him and took his skateboard because...I have to go now."

He shouts at the guy and pretty much humiliates him in front of anyone who can hear...which is basically everyone in the state. And then the guy talks about backchat after his unreasonable actions...he's lucky he doesn't get the crap beaten out of him for being such an pr***, but I guess he could tell who he was picking on beforehand.

Maybe because of the fact that you're talking with (at?) him and asking him questions...and because the other guys are scared ****less, and this kid is pissed about his skateboard, and being attacked by a police officer. It's not even legal what the guy did.

And anyone who thinks this cop is remotely right and this kid is wrong please tell me why so I can prove you wrong.

And I swear, if a police officer tried something like this on me or one of my friends, we'd jump him there and then.

Oh, and to answer the question of the thread...because it's my right to...and none of you sadistic, cocky, egotistical, over-suspicious b******s can force me not to. And if you tried to, like this idiot did, I'd smash your face in.

Why should I respect elitist guys that don't have any respect for people that don't have that badge. I think it's probably the walk that gets me the most if I think about what I really don't like about police in general...that stupid swaggering walk...not a confident swagger, an arrogant di**head *I'm better than you* swagger.

I appreciate the people (probably like yourself magnum) who are trying to serve and protect, etc. but these are a stupidly low (or non-existent for me personally) minority from what I (and it seems like a fair few others) have experienced personally.

Cops, I dont have any problems with good cops who talk with the people, do their duties as they're supposed to but still have a sense of morals... I hate seeing cops that would rather arrest teenagers for smoking a blunt than a mid-aged man swerving in traffic with roadrage... (Haven't seen this but I bet that some cops I've met would do this).
Some corrupt cops can be nice however, just one of those things where they want respect more than anything...

I'd like to see the video of you and your friends jumping a cop, too.

I don't think you'll hear anyone here defending this guy's actions. They're clearly inappropriate, if not downright criminal. Not knowing the whole situation, however, makes me want to defend the man himself. We don't know what happened before this video. This could be the bazillionth day that these kids harassed the cop. This time the kids might have actually assaulted the cop before the video was rolling and the cop decided that instead of ruining the kids lives with felony arrests for assault on a peace officer, that he would just try to knock some sense in them. Whatever the reason for the loss of temper, it's still not right, and I am sure that this officer has paid for the mistakes he made that day.

"Jump" was the wrong word for me to use. I meant that if a cop tried this on me for no reason - and there clearly wasn't any good reason, I would resist, and if there were enough of us there, yh, definitely. I think either you're overestimating cops, or we just have really bad ones.

You are kidding, right? They might have attacked the guy before it was rolling? Do they look like people who would attack a policeman? Did he look injured, did he say anything along those lines at all? they were obeying his instructions clearly, the kid that got taken down said "I didn't know - I had my earphones in." Does that sound like someone who just assaulted a cop? He did exactly what he was told. Please put some other possibilities of what could have happened before this clip, because I always try and look at it from "the other guy's" angle, but I can really not think of anything in the slightest.

Clearly . I think the fact that I got stopped and searched 3 times by cops yesterday - all of them by a-holes - and kind of being under the influence of illegal substances led to such a stupidly long post, but after reading it back, it was definitely excessive, and obviously put in a few things I shouldn't have said there, but I agree with most of it and pretty much stand by it. I know pretty much everyone who looks in the Sandbox will disagree and think whatever about me and what I wrote about policepeople, etc. but at the end of the day, I don't really give.

But picking on a couple kids? I couldn't see him doing something like that on an adult.

I've had bosses and lived and worked in a hierarchical place for a while now, but the point of all of the people above is that you have some sort of relationship with them, they do something for you, so yh they can lean on you a bit, bosses pay, minor officials (like this nonce) are meant to "serve and protect", and you obviously have a 2-way relationship with your wife. Is this guy doing anything at all except abuse his power. He's not serving and protecting, he's taking pleasure from abusing minors, thinking (knowing most of the time) that he can get away with it.

And the resigned attitude you have about cops abusing their power is what's wrong with everyone - it's become such a common occurrence that people just don't care any more. That's a pretty good reason to dislike cops - people don't see them as people who will protect them, but people who will take advantage of the piece of metal on their shirt.

I'll repeat what I said at the beginning of my first post. I don't hate cops who do their job and do it well, and do it for the right reasons, in fact I admire them, to a degree. But I have never met a policeperson like this so far in my relatively short life, but I have had quite a few encounters with them.

Unfortunately the current consensus in US law no longer provides citizens with the right to resist an unlawful arrest in most states unless the officer is using excessive or inappropriate force. The reasoning behind this is that the legal system has matured to the point where if you are wronged by an unlawful or false arrest judicial recourse is considered sufficient to right the wrong.

In the distant past unlawful or false arrest were viewed as assault and battery, which allowed you the choice of defending yourself as appropriate regardless of whether the assailant was an official. Currently, resistance is only considered appropriate if the officer is using excessive force -- and this even applies to a LAWFUL arrest -- though in practice it is nearly impossible to prove without video evidence.

In this case the officer was using excessive force so the teen would have been legally justified in defending himself whether or not the 'arrest' was lawful. Had he done so without his friends rolling tape, however, he'd probably be in jail.

Caveat: When using force against a police officer you are required to immediately deescalate the aggression the moment the officer acknowledges that he will do the same once you disengage. Again, in practice this almost always %#$@s over the citizen in favor of the officer. You need hard demonstrable proof to show that the officer was behaving inappropriately (video) and even when you have such evidence police officers often face far lesser punishment than an average citizen would be subject to.

I think I would've reacted the same way if I hadn't had those experiences yesterday, but just not as extreme and annoyed. They weren't particularly bad, just wasting our time and giving us attitude because they were annoyed at the fact that they hadn't found anything. I wasn't really PO'ed at them, but all of the bad experiences I've had, mixed by a small does of Class B meant I got major PO'ed at the guy in this vid.

P.S. Do cops actually scare people in America?

Yh excessive force is just the stupidest thing I've ever heard. [off topic]If someone's on your property you can defend yourself, and you can not use excessive force. So you can push them on the floor (is it even possible to just push someone on the floor who isn't in their pre-teens?) but you can't hit them while they're down. So people, if someone tries to kill you, push them away with one hand, and phone the police with the other, I'm sure you'll survive.[/off topic]

Why didn't those kids just not skateboard there? Why didn't they just stop what they were doing, say "Yes sir" or "No sir" to the cop? They wouldn't have been "mistreated" if they weren't pompous little kids to begin with.

I've never had a run in with any cops. And there certainly are lots of them in my area.

Never had an encounter with the cops myself (except the sergeant who lived behind my house), but i have seen a really violent engagement of them.

I live in a nice neighborhood, filled with elderly people and hard working, educated, couples. But down the street from my house is a pot/cocaine dealer that has been caught several times in the act of either laundering the drugs or the money.

Well, the most violent engagement was a combined force of the local cops and the DEA, all clad in Kevlar, tear gas canisters, and shotguns, all of which raided the house and took out the residents in one swoop. I remember seeing 3 VERY large bags of white powder later on being taken by the authorities.
