Bush Opens 11-Point Lead Over Kerry at Convention, Poll Shows

Bush got 52 percent support over 41 percent for Kerry among likely voters surveyed in an Aug. 31-Sept. 2 telephone poll of 1,316 adults -- 926 identified themselves as likely voters. The margin of error for likely voters is 4 percentage points. Independent candidate Ralph Nader got 3 percent. Time magazine will publish the poll results in its Sept. 6 issue.

After a surprisingly close first half, the stronger team is starting to run up the score and the commentators are talking about how long the defense has been on the field.

I wonder how much is a bounce from the convention though? Kerry got little to no bounce of their convention, so I guess we'll see in the coming weeks how it pans out.

Some interesting numbers:
47% said they trust Kerry to understand the needs of people like themselves, while 44% trusted Bush to understand their needs.

Providing strong leadership: 56% said they trust Bush to provide strong leadership in difficult times, while 37% said they trust Kerry to provide leadership in difficult times.
