Re: How Much is Your Right to Vote Worth?

Our political system is so corrupt and ridiculous that your vote doesnt mean crap anyway. 99% of what candidates say they're going to do doesnt get done and the other 1% is delayed indefinitely. I equate it to an elementary school student council election where the candidates say they're going to do things like abolish homework and get free vending machines. It's all crap. Until such a time as we straighten it out (which I'm betting is about 3 days after hell freezes over and satan stars giving away free sleigh rides), I vote only using the lazarus long principle: if you cant find something to vote for, find something you're against and vote for the opposite of that. Unfortunately, this only works for legislation, not the legislators themselves (theyre all lying d-bags).

So to answer the original question, I'd sell my right to vote for a check that would pay off my student loans and allow me enough extra to build my house on my property in colorado and get a nice motorcycle. So, roughly 500k.

Re: How Much is Your Right to Vote Worth?

I don't want to vote anyways. The key is how can I take away everyone else's right to vote? The people who voted in LBJ, then Nixon, then Carter, then Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton...wtf??

Don't forget, after Clinton II for 8 years is Bush III (Jeb) for 8 years, then Clinton III (Dearest Daughter) for 8 years, then Bush IV when Chelsea Clinton is killed in a match against a powerful Soviet boxer, and Bush decides to challenge him himself.

Unless you're convicted of a felony. I personally have never seen a convincing argument for this line of reasoning.

Sadly, I can't come up with a single argument to counter this.

Actually the hellish scenario is Chelsea and then One of Jebs sons THEN Chelsea and a Bush get married.

That is the day Satan comes back, when a when a person with the last name of "Bush-Clinton" presidency starts.

Re: How Much is Your Right to Vote Worth?

I know in the last federal elections in Canada someone tried to sell his right to vote on E-bay... I think he was getting 15$ when the feds closed down the auction!

Hell! That guys as no respect for all the men and women that fought and died in wars for liberty and democracy!

My 2 cents...

Neither have I, honestly. I forgot about this exception to the rule, which is pretty silly. Ah well. Given how apathetic people are, maybe we should move on from a democracy to something like a dictatorship.

I like the Rocky IV angle But you know Rosemary's Baby angle is cool too. We can mash these two outcomes: Maybe Chelsea dies after fighting a powerful Soviet boxer and her Bush Lovechild Satan-baby is saved...

Ditto, except I'd trick them into giving me at least a computer I can play ArmA on.

Yeah, I guess at that point votes aren't going to be worth anything at all. Good trade.

Re: How Much is Your Right to Vote Worth?

Flip the question on its head: How much would you do to get your right back again? Many are not allowed to vote for the candidate of their choice because of excessively onerous ballot access laws. Would you contribute to organizations devoted to fighting those laws?

http://www.ballot-access.org/

I'd like to get rid of the party system in the US, and go to a flat ballot with no primary. That seemed to work fine in the last California gubernatorial election. (Even if I don't agree with the choice of candidate, we didn't have "chaos and confusion" as some predicted.)
