I am hearing more and more people criticize Fox News. Glad to see people finally seeing the evil coming around to the light side.

Re religion and the founders. Anyone have some hard data on that? I googled around and found these:

The Founders on Religion: A Book of Quotations

RELIGION AND THE FOUNDERS (alas no cites)

California allows anyone to have permanent absentee ballot status, and just started mailing ballots. So even though New Hampshire will be the first state to show results, Californians will be voting first. Hence, several campaigns are now calling voters here to get their vote. I'll be voting for Paul when my ballot arrives in the mail.

Re: Iowa Caucus End result

If they're just now mailing ballots, then they're too slow to be the first ones to vote. New Hampshire put out its first voting results at like 5 minutes after midnight this morning.

...Not that it's particularly meaningful to show the results of 17 people in a podunk town whose only claim to fame is voting 5 minutes after midnight, but I guess they can enjoy their moment in the spotlight.

Also, have we all forgotten about Wyoming already? They voted like last week, and Mitt Romney won in Wyoming, and nobody even mentions them.

On absentee voting:

Quote:
More than half the total votes in California's Feb. 5 primary could be mailed in, and many of those ballots will be cast long before Election Day in a state that has seen scant evidence of the 2008 presidential campaign.

California isn't alone. Residents of 11 states—Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, South Carolina and Utah—have been able to vote by mail for their favorite candidates since December.

The first was Michigan, where absentee ballots were made available Dec. 1 for the Jan. 15 primary.

But California is the biggest prize with the most delegates. With a wide-open race in both parties, results from early contests will carry inevitable weight here as voters make decisions in what amounts to a rolling, monthlong primary election.

I think this perception of not being electable is a direct result of the media bias against him (yes, including FoxNews).
You're hitting the nail on the head here. Big media (major news orgs) in America (and elsewhere too) is much too influential in a number of areas that it shouldn't be. The worst part is that they know it, so they use it to their advantage. They try to tailor the news and opinions to their intended audience. They pitch a viewpoint and then sell it to you. Don't buy it.

They are not influential. Most people are simply gullible and unwilling to question their reality.

Not enough Americans take the time to actually look at the candidates, most just will vote their party and for who ever is leading. Or they vote like the rest of their family does. Media in this country has entirely to much power, and will cry 1st amendment every time you try to shut them up.

Most Americans have real lives to pursue, and a single vote has microscopic effect on the political scene. It's just not cost effective to care. True power comes not from one's own vote but the votes one influences.

Tribal voters (those who mindlessly vote only within their own tribe, be it Democrat or Republican) can at best be swayed to different candidates within their own tribe. It's very similar to allegiance to sports teams. This is why 3rd parties have so little luck.

Then there's the "Britney factor". Recall that the majority of voters are the same people who keep Britney Spears' face on the tabloids every week.

Want to change the situation? Teach people to think critically and be skeptical. But that's going to really threaten the status quo. They might question you!
