Re: Are We Alone?

As an RF-emitting civilization we've gotten considerably quieter since we first discovered radio. Expect distant civilizations to be pretty hard to hear after their first century with RF.

There is an "Optical SETI" program going on right now. It involves searching for lasers in space basically, not actually looking up at the sky and seeing ET.

^Is that better, Gambit? If it was such a 'duh' statement, one wonders why Stephen Hawking needed to give his talk at all. Maybe they could have just phoned you?
Woah buddy. I was just kind of alluding to the fact that I think they could've really gone deeper into the subject during that interview - it was somewhat of a waste of time. TED is usually more distinct and progressive with their little brainstorming sessions and conferences.

Akroyd's brother was actually the catalyst behind the Ghostbusters series as he's a REAL Ghostbuster. An altogether strange family indeed, but I can dig it.
