I agree with you, but that kind of imagery should come with a NSFW+death
I think the link address kinda explains it all.

Not designed to kill people. Designed to stop the violence of others. Or designed to kill, but not specifically people. (The same hardware is used for both hunting and self defense.) All such devices have the unfortunate risk of causing death. Including tasers, rubber bullets and fire hoses.

Any device which imparts a lot of energy is going to cause some pretty grisly accidents occasionally.

Switch, try these photos instead. (NSFW if you work with vegetarians. )

I love a bit of venison myself. I just have a problem with people takin a gun in this case a Ar-15 which would be classified as a assault rifle by the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, (but has since been legalised in some parts of the U.S.) and painting it pink with a fluffy cat on it kinda tries to make the weapon less dangerous than it is.
Wonder what would happen if somebody went on a high school/shopping mall killing spree with a hello kitty AR-15 given to her by her Daddy would that make a difference. I think that maybe would raise a few eyebrows.

I don't think that whoever painted that rifle intended to make it less dangerous. I know that there's a serious culture difference between where I live and where you live when it comes to guns, but over here we have women and children shooting target rifles like this on shooting ranges all over the country every day. People like having their things painted in themes that interest them. <shrug> It doesn't have any effect on how dangerous they are, so what's the big deal?

Well i know we have some big differences with the whole gun thing, i dont choose/need/want a gun and you want/need/choose a gun because its in the constitution and to protect your family from harm and to hunt. Kids and guns dont really mix in my opinion ( thats funny you had to reference women in that statement too). And by painting the weapon a nice shade of pink it seems to soften the idea of the weapon. But hey its just my opinion tis the sandbox. Only in America as Calvin said.

That rifle would not have fallen under the Ban when it was in place due to the fact it does not meet the basic criteria for being termed a assault rifle.

Yes it could receive a high capacity magazine, but it does not have a telescoping stock, a bayonet mount, a threaded flash hider for accepting a grenade launcher or suppressor and the barrel is over 16" long. It has to have two or more of the characteristics to have been considered for the ban of 1994.

Now that all being said, I cannot fathom someone who pays that much money to collect that gun (I wouldn't) would ever righteously use it outside of the range. A gun like that costs good money and most gun collectors, however warped in this case, use their gun for anything illegal. I know that if I own a gun the last thing I would do is jeopardize the money invested. legally procured guns are not the issue in America, it is the illegal ones that give guns such a bad name.

So the legal guns are a protection against the illegal ones. Which are also used for target practice and hunting. Would a small semi automatic like a 9mm beretta be any good for hunting?

Re: Hello Kitty AR-15

A few quick points.

The Assault Weapons Ban of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 has expired via its sunset provision in 2004, so all national effects have been lifted.

Cindular "reference[d] women in that statement" because in the article under discussion, the gun was made SPECIFICALLY for the author's wife. Another one (inspired by this one) was commissioned by one of the commenter's for his wife on Valentine's Day. And the other example of someone wishing to construct one was indeed for children. The poster is an NRA instructor and wanted one to demonstrate that not all real guns looked the same and all guns (no matter the way they look) are dangerous.

Also why is it that hunting is the only allowable form of gun use? Why can people not just go out and target shoot?

Re: Hello Kitty AR-15

One can also paint cars and earth moving equipment in pretty or frilly colors. Just this weekend I heard a story on the radio where someone smashed a car into a crowd watching a race, killing several. Something can be both attractive and deadly at the same time. (Consider all the WWII planes with pinups painted on the nose cowl.)

Guns are designed to fire small arms projectiles or non-lethel agents. People decide what they are going to shoot. Some of of shoot only at targets for sport. Some of us hunt. Some more of us will only fire in absolute self-defense. Then there are the select few who kill people and chose thier tool to be a gun. People chose to kill people. Guns are tools and nothing more without a human behind it.

Aah how sweet. Nothing says I love you like a high powered assault rifle on Valentine's Day!

Yes, we call them butterfly or balisong knives, too. And that's another example of a feel-good law that does nothing. Is a butterfly knife any more deadly than a regular folding knife of the same size? No, but it sure looks scary when someone flips it around their hand real fast!
