I didn't call you a murder. I called the troops that still support this war murderers, which they are, if they've killed anyone because they were ordered to.

If you're included in that group.. well thats on your conscious, not mine.

Re: Berkeley council tells Marines to leave

I believe that Dirtboy is a troop who still supports the war. Many here at TG are active duty, and many more are prior service. You are perfectly entitled to have your opinion about the war and the troops, as many here do, but I think you should retool your message considerably. Are you trying to be so rude to so many here? If not, it's time to take a breath and back down. If so, then...

Just my opinion.

You're going way too far Mentholated. I would say something to support Dirtboy, but words fail me at the moment.

I guess they can't either.

Before, I guess I would've said "well I support the troops, its not their decision to be fighting this war.."

But now I place the responsibility squarely on their heads. They're the ones pulling the trigger. So I think what they're doing in Berkeley is certainly moving in the right direction.

Deny them the right to use taxpayer's money to suck in more innocent lives and turn them into murderers. No, not soldiers. Murderers. This whole war has just been one huge excuse for a bunch of cowboys to get their jockstraps wet.

They all know what they're doing is wrong.
Wow, do you even read what you type. I vote this as the most non-logical post on these forums.

I am in the Military, I do not have the luxury to decide where and when I deploy. I joined the military to do make a difference in the world. I protect the freedoms for people like you! You in-turn call us murderers and cowboys. My brother gave his life for people who never experienced the freedoms you have obviously taken for granted. While you are entitled to your opinion, you are still a inconsiderate hippie. I am not the type of person that demands respect for me being in the military, but to call us murderers...you have some pretty big balls to say this. I dare you to go to any VA hospital or military installation and say this! I guarantee you that you will get punched in the throat.

Instead he opted to join the Westboro baptist church.

Re: Berkeley council tells Marines to leave

That is highly offensive, I must say. I'm 6 years prior service, myself. Been to Iraq. I was heavily involved in the war as I provided airlift. Countless helicopters, bombs, missiles, ammo, supplies, etc. I have always been supportive of this war and will continue to be. Not blindly. I realize that things could be done better. Mistakes have been made. And there's still much progress to be accomplished. Are you calling me a murderer as well? That's pretty harsh. But, that being said, I'd give my life for people like you to have the freedom to say whatever they dang well want to. Too bad the same people who abuse that privilege probably wouldn't be willing to do the same for others they disagree with. Many of us would sacrifice everything for this blessed nation and its freedoms. People do have the freedom of speech. Doesn't it mean it won't come with loads of negative rep though! Lol.

I wasn't attacking anyone, especially Dirtboy. It was a generalized statement about all troops who have taken a life during this war because they believed it was just without question. I stand by my statement and will not reword it. It shouldn't be taken personally, as if I'm attacking one person and calling them a murderer. I'm not "attacking" any ONE.. just pointing out that taking a life is taking a life. My personal beliefs on the matter are that if anyone is going to take a life based on what their government says, they ought to have a whole lot of faith in their government, bordering on religious faith. To be honest, I see no difference between Jihadists and those who fight them if they're both equally as blind to the consequences of what they're doing. Lets be perfectly clear about what I'm talking about: the needless sacrifice of human lives in the name of spreading democracy. That is what we've been doing, right? Spreading democracy.

Who knew democracy came at such a cost. As long as one person continues to fight this war, every life lost on either side is a sacrifice made in vain.

Lets not forget the fact that most of the american troops who are killed are killed protecting private civilian contractors working for war profiteers. If I had to say it over, I'd call those corporations the real murderers.. not the troops. They're caught in the middle, but they're still responsible for every life they take, even if they're following orders. It is their finger that pulls the pin or the trigger, not their superior officer.

And I haven't walked in their shoes. I wouldn't want to. I have the utmost empathy for what they're allowing to continue, but no sympathy. What ever happened to taking a stand?

I'm sure the Iraqi citizens.. decades from now might have a better life. Its a shame that we had to invade and conquer their country in order for them to have it.

So I whole heartedly support Berkeley in what they're doing. How can any city or state stand by and watch this go on without doing SOMETHING direct to try to bring it to a stop? In my opinion, they're brave for what they're doing.

No one should take anything I say personally until I specifically call them out on what THEY have done. If you know that everything you've done is right by god, or by your own conscious, then you have nothing to be angry about. If you aren't sure however, maybe now would be the time to look in the mirror.

Judge lest ye be judged, and all that.

What Berkeley is doing wont change anything, there just slapping the face of every Marine and serviceman around the world. If anything, I think you are the one that is blind, not our troops or our Government.

Re: Berkeley council tells Marines to leave

So in the past month you've gone from wanting to possibly join the Air Force National Guard to this?

To be honest, if a recruiter ever saw what you posted he would never consider you. You already have a low chance of being accepted into any branch of the military.

I'm not going to dignify that response. Instead, I'm going to refer to you this image and direct you to stare at it and repeat the words black projects over and over and over again:

Then do some research on what goes on at Vandenberg AFB.

Thats true, what Berkeley is doing won't change anything. But if other cities and towns started following suit, it would change a whole lot.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think I've discovered the root cause of Mentholated's problems with the world! He's got a translation error...
