Yes, but the poll was flawed because the reason for either saying yet or no was forced upon you. You couldn't vote "yes" because you felt it would be easier to find that type of specific content as the election gets closer or for any other reason.

Bah! You've got three choices: "yes", "no", or "don't care". The rest is just flavor...

Not yet... keep it in the sandbox for now and maybe revisit it in the fall when things will really warm up.

Good one Cing.

I say no. After the conventions I don't think there will be much to talk about. That's just my opinion.

Re: Election 2008 sub-forum?

i think it is a great idea, because as time goes on, every other thread in this forum will be about elections (imho)

Re: Election 2008 sub-forum?

The reason I brought this to Cing was because, if my memory serves me correctly, the election in '06 brought a slew of topical threads. With that came a lot of fractionation in the discussions that were going on.

I thought an Election subforum would be a nice way to keep the discussion focused. That and a nice filter for the non-Yanks who could not care less

If you're worried about curtailing discussion on the elections by moving it to a sub-forum, would your fears be alleviated if we put a big bold sticky in the sandbox thread directing folks to the election subforum?

Re: Election 2008 sub-forum?

Organization is highly overrated, and a tiny bit stifling in an area like the sandbox. Potentially seeing the same topic hashed out differently on a new thread is interesting and informative. Idiotic redundancy quickly gets stamped out ("repost : link", and/or mod). Free market of ideas!

HAHAHA

A few years ago I was ordering at some fast food establishment and I ordered a medium Coke. The girl informed me that they didn't have "Medium", my choices were "Grande", "Super-Grande" or "Mega-Grande".

I told her to give me the one right there in the middle.

Re: Election 2008 sub-forum?

Why is organization stifling? It doesn't seem to be a problem for the game sections.

The biggest problem I see is that web forums lack the nice cross-posting feature of newsgroups, which allow you to post the same thread in two sections without it appearing twice in new posts or using twice as much server space.

I'd be inclined to have a sub-section named "politics", though. And another section titled "religion". Perhaps one on "sex". But the lack of cross-posting features presents a problem with so many issues crossing over from one section to another.

Does anyone know of forum software that does allow cross-posting?
