As for this lady, she should NEVER come to my town. We have so many gay and lesbian couples in this town, as well as all religions and races that have relationships. I have like three of the gayest teachers in the world and it doesn't bother me.

There are plenty of people that think homosexuality is wrong in this nation. Not even for religious reasons. While in the military, outside my Nuke buddies, I don't think I knew anybody that thought being gay was A-OK. Plus there is a big difference between accepting it and approving of it. Many, I would guess, accept it but not so many approve of it. Go ask parents if they want their kid to grow up gay. Do you think the answer will ever be "yes"? "Hey Fred, what did you have?" "A boy! A tiny little gay boy! I am so proud!" I don't see that as being common any time soon. Go to some other countries and I think you will find that homosexuality is often a big no-no, sometimes even a punishable offense. And those professional ethicists you speak of. I don't put much in their proclamations. After all, at one point they thought homosexuality was wrong. Scientifically we still don't know why people are gay. They have some ideas but nothing concrete. We also don't know why people are straight. So what has changed since the time when being gay was wrong for the ethicists? Attitude, mainly. And let us not forget that there are Christians that see nothing wrong with being gay as long as you don't act upon it. I agree with chewy, the debate lives on and will for a long time.

Voters are idiots. They're a mob, and the intelligence of mobs goes with the least common denominator. Is it any wonder that elected officials are less intelligent than the average voter? And yet, people think elected officials should micromanage our lives. Yeah, that's a good idea.

Re: Gays are worse than terrorists
So why do people think being gay is wrong? Is it just "my invisible friend in the sky said so"?
I think this is one of those things our middle eastern friends fear from us as we impose western society on them, much as people here would be upset if aliens imposed tolerance for child molestation on us.

Re: Gays are worse than terrorists
There are many reasons. Some are simply taught that it is. And anybody that questions it is also labeled as bad.
Others are afraid of the unknown. Others don't like things that are different. Some think it would crash the population. Religion may, in some cases, teach the hatred. But often religion is used as the excuse or justification for naturally occurring hatred.
