Re: Cannabis in TG

Ok, but if your god created it, how can you be sure he intended you to roll it up and smoke it? Perhaps he or it had another intended use in mind and you are misusing it.

Re: Cannabis in TG

I just think it's wrong that if one grows his own weed and cops find out they fine you for not buying your stuff from criminals thus supporting all kinds of criminal acts.
Pretty much the stuff happening in Finland.

I've never smoked weed, never even seen weed.

Re: Cannabis in TG

Haha good point yea, DEA still busts into peoples houses here in America (duh, DEA littered) who even have permits to grow and they just go about doing w\e.. Happened in Oregon awhile ago, the person growing was in his mid 50s, a retired detective, worked almost his entire life for the police force and really got known in his city for a good rep and stopping alot of crime, he gets cataracts or cancer (froget) and gets a permit to start smoking/growing and DEA still busts him searching his entire house for anything they can find, they take away his plants and all that even though he had a permit still in his hands.
Anyway....
And about the God stuff, I know your from Alabama and everything so you are probably alot more religious than others around the country but you could say the same thing with coke.. "Am I supposed to sniff it, Am I supposed to crush it up into a powder and inject it, or am I supposed to chew it.." All the ways work, theirs no defined reason something thats there is there its just up to you to go about seeing what you can do with it and choose all the good purposes something has.

Re: Cannabis in TG

Pot is illegal because the government thinks it makes people less ambitious and have non-conformist thoughts like: "Why do I want to go to work when I can just sit here and smoke pot". It isn't about right and wrong. It's simply bad for business. With the fallowing Jerry Garcia had, he could have taken over the world if he wasn't so stoned.

It's funny that you mention Jerry, he died three weeks into rehab, some would argue that he was self medicating himself to stay alive. Now, hows that for drug use irony?

Re: Cannabis in TG

Independent of how you use it, the plants (hemp and coca) are illegal to possess.

I, too, am curious to know where the Constitution authorizes Federal criminal authority over mind-altering substances.

Re: Cannabis in TG

It doesn't. The constitution affirms the exact opposite -- that people are free to pursue life liberty and happiness as they see fit and that the federal government has no place to meddle in personal affairs.

A common misconception is that the constitution and bill of rights is an exclusive list of rights on which all other rights are based. The constitution is only a list of exceptionally important rights which are put on paper for all to see.

Quote:
Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.
Anything not specifically entitled to the feds is in the hands of the state and/or individual.

Re: Cannabis in TG

I personally have indulged in the past, but allas.....no more. It really just doesn't do anything but put me to sleep now, lol. I drink instead. Please remember that most of the drugs that are illegal in this counttry, where at one time legal. Pot, Cocaine, and Heroin where all legal. Until the government decided that it was bad for our society. The only difference is that when they outlawed Alchohol, the people refused to accept it.

The people have refused to accept drug prohibition as well.

I think it has more to do with racism. Atleast that is what I recall from this History Channel documentary.

I also think it's illegal because the pharmaceutical industry wouldn't like the idea of a medicine that is effective against so many aliments being something you can grow in your backyard.

Sounds like it would actually have a chance today in the supreme court nowadays.. Our national debt would definitely benefit off it.

I'm sure racism and the drug companies played a part back in the 30s or whenever, but cannabis is illegal in almost every country for the same reason. It effects humans ability to be productive.

The Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970 was a direct response to the counter culture hippie movement. Nixon was scared to death of losing power. And pretty much made recreational mind altering drugs very very illegal.

Do you have a source for that assertion? I've never heard that proclaimed as the justification for the original source of those laws in any country. It might make sense in totalitarian ones where workers are considered slaves of the state. And perhaps in socialist ones, where workers are considered slaves of the people.

I'd love to read more about the history of the politics motivating criminalization.
