Re: Dying is no excuse says the RIAA
Obviously the RIAA contends that he obtained copyrighted material without paying for it, and they are seeking damages. I don't understand the idea that his obligations don't exist after his death. Obviously his assets outlive him. Gotta get the accounts settled before the estate can leave probate.
I'm no fan of the RIAA but I don't fault them for protecting their business. Their claim against the man now confers to a claim against his estate. There's nothing really mean or weird about it. |

Re: Dying is no excuse says the RIAA
True. As much as I hate the RIAA, these matters need to be cleared up before the estate is taken care of, and so the files in the probate court can show a clear estate. Very important for future real property title issues and/or other estate matters. Hopefully, the plaintiff (the RIAA) will seek to dismiss the case. Not likely, though.

Re: Dying is no excuse says the RIAA
How considerate. They cant screw people enough while they're alive, so they'll screw them (and their families) after they die! The RIAA (as a collective) is my hero.
What a bunch of douchebaggery. Let the man rest in freaking peace.
