On the topic of the protesters, again, I feel that people with their own agenda are barking up the wrong tree. While I agree that Tibet should have more freedom from Chinese control, I don't think that harassing the torch bearers is a smart way to get the message out. In my opinion, they should be protesting at a Chinese embassy and not by disrupting a 3rd party that is basically neutral. I understand what they are thinking though. Attacking the torch bearers has garnered them a lot more media coverage than the other protests, still I think it's going too far and sort of taints their message of freedom. Am I the only one who thinks that sending the message against oppression by harassing the innocent is more than a little hypocritical?
If they protested at the Chinese embassy they would probably be arrested and never heard from ever again. And its not even about harassing the innocent, if a bully goes and beats up your kid at school and is literally about to get stomped out, hes begging for help from random people but by what your saying no one should provide any support.. Can give the same analogy to someone robbing someone in broad daylight. The purpose of a protest is to get media coverage so more people can see the situation and whats happening, same purpose for terrorism... I'm actually really glad theyre protesting (which they should be IMO, but thats another topic), radical Islamists wanted to get their views shown to the world.. They tried protesting, people dont listen, they kept doing it until they decided hell with it and we have 2 fallen towers now.. (Big discussion, controversial and all yes so better analogy sort of; ) Ho Chi Minh was born in Vietnam under the French oppression, he saw what was happening to his people and tried peacefully protesting it all, he even went to France to get educated in Universitys about politics, he repeatidly plead his cases infront of the French Court and something else (froget what it is, meeting of a bunch of reps out of France and its colonies), they all ignored him, he eventually went back to Vietnam, up to his Communist hook ups got his guerilla comrades trained in how to fight and had others better well trained how to write and spread propaganda and started a revolution. The whole situation could've probably been avoided if either the French took time to listen and changed their policies so it wasnt so destructive to Vietnam and its people or just arrested him and thrown him away in jail forever like China probably wouldve done.

Well yea that parts definitely true, would be kind of nice to see some people open business and hire either homeless people to work for them or something like that, help boost up the economy a little bit atleast and US would be a tiny bit less dependent on China for its stuff..

Re: Olympic torch in trouble!

Has anyone been following the torch on Everest? Odd to think of someone 'closing' the summit of Everest, but it happened. The climbing community is angry, but they don't carry a whole lot of political weight. They are also muted because they don't want to anger China, Tibet, or get Nepal in trouble.

So weird to think of the politics of this being extended to the death zone 28,000 feet up.
