Re: Obama or Clinton?

Eh, I live in the backwoods and personally know several idiots either in the KKK or claiming to be in the KKK and they aren't anything to be afraid of. The KKK doesn't have the political pull that it had in the '60s and the last I heard they were losing members rapidly. There will always be some fools who are taken with that sort of thing, but I think anyone with a brain is a bit more moderate.

I believe that it's a result of the culture those people and of the people that they hold in high regard. I have several friends who are black and they can't stand the way their pop culture has swayed nearly everyone they know to vote for Senator Obama. Does their skin color make them think that way? If j.baker had said "the black vote" instead of "black people/black loving people", I wouldn't have had a problem with it. I think that small difference in words plays a huge part in my perception of what is being described. I guess my argument is too large and philosophical to belong in this discussion...

My main objection to j.baker's post, was the comparison of "the black/black loving vote" to the "white supremacist vote".
In every state I've seen, over 90% of black voters have voted for Obama, despite the fact, as Switchcraft pointed out, that they remain divided in their opinion of Obama and Clinton on every issue. So I don't understand why you're disappointed in me for noticing, like your black friends, that black voters are voting for the black man in the race by 90% plus in every state.

Help me understand how this is different from racist white people basing their choice on the color of a man's skin.

As I've said, that's not what I'm disappointed in...

It's not. Now you're talking about black racists and white racists, not black people and white people. HUGE difference there.

Cing, I'm talking about 90% of the black people who vote in every state in this nation. I'm not calling them names, I'm talking about how they have voted so far in this election. Are you calling them racist?

If they voted based on race, then yes! I don't think that's what is happening, though. I think that Senator Obama is running a campaign that is actually interesting to "the black vote".

Also, just because Senator Obama is getting a high percentage of "the black vote" doesn't mean he isn't getting awesome numbers from other demographic groups. Switch mentioned being intellectually honest, but nobody has mentioned the amazing numbers that Senator Obama is getting across all demographics.

leejo, you might want to SPELL CHECK....before you post.

Half of the country doesn't vote, that includes all races and genders......

Leejo, are you a super-delagate?

Oh in Philadelphia we've been hearing plenty from them. Hear about that guy that was beat up by a bunch of police officers? Sharpton's screaming racism because the guy who got beat up was black, but he never mentioned that he shot and killed an officer and one of the officers who beat him was black... I'm sorry, but not everything is about race, and they are constantly crying out to suit their own agenda. I don't care if you're a woman, black, or an old white guy. If you've got what it takes to lead a country I'm going to vote for you.

OK Cing then point me to some of those awesome numbers. And please explain what you do think 90% of black americans who vote are basing their decision upon. I have given you a link that shows the exit polls for each state. In each state, every demographic except one is relatively evenly divided between the candidates. In each state, and on every issue, all demographics are evenly divided in their assessment of the two candidates. Yet when it came time to vote, 9 out of 10 black voters chose the black candidate. Why do you think that is?

Re: Obama or Clinton?

In my mind
Hillary has no chance
The election is

Obama vs. McCain
U.S vs. Bush Supporters.
Democrats vs. Republicans
It's all the same... and all this talk about racism is stupid bs.
Most of the people that are racist towards blacks are either black themselves or just some stupid white guys..
I hear more black guys say "Nigga" then white guys.

Re: Obama or Clinton?

So you don't understand that Oba-sama is a racist? What if McCain had used the term "typical black person" in an interview? His political career would be over and 90% of the black population would be screaming for blood. And yet we let Oba-sama get away with the exact same thing. His preacher is racist, he himself has made racist comments, that's more than enough for me to call him a racist.

Re: Obama or Clinton?

People should be voting for the person that represents there interests the best. Black people have been treated as second class citizens only 40 years ago. There is still some residual effects left. They will vote for Obama overwhelmingly because it will boost their self esteem and more importantly the esteem of black people in the eyes of others. After Obama gets elected the next black presidential candidate will not enjoy this kind of support. Self esteem is a commodity.

I'm not going to play. If I were rich I would be voting Republican. I don't understand poor folks that think the GOP represents their interests.

Re: Obama or Clinton?

Voting for an idiot will not earn my respect. I could care less what color or race anyone is. If you are an American, you should vote for someone who knows how to run the country, not someone who appeals to individual stereotypes, inconsequential musings, or random sensationalism.
