That's...pretty bad.
That's actually horrible - and to laugh after that! Where do they find these people?

The other guy's reaction was actually pretty funny - "well, talk about how you really feel (chuckle)"

Re: Obama or Clinton?

Looks like this thread is pretty much settled. This will be quite an election.

Re: Obama or Clinton?

I just need to say that I am absolutely elated with the news of Obama's win this morning. The fall is going to be absolutely amazing. Way to restore my faith in the common sense of my fellow Americans!

I can't wait to see what this guy is going to do with the presidency. I'm genuinely excited at the possibilities ahead.

As for McCain, I genuinely like the guy. I can't get my head around his flip flopping, though, and I held that very same issue against Kerry in 2004. I can't put my vote behind someone who's opinion changes in whatever direction the wind blows. Bush tax cuts, Iraq... I wish he'd stick with his opinions. He was a far better candidate when he was being true to his principles.

This depends on why he's changing his mind. If its to win elections, then yes, that kind of opinion-changing bothers me. If its because he truly changed his mind, then I welcome a president that is open to new theories and doesn't stick to principles just because they're his principles. A president who thinks and is willing to change opinions is infinitely superior to one who blindly acts on whatever moral imperative he believes in.

I don't know if you specifically did, but anyone who used the 'flip flop' excuse on Kerry should logically abstain from claiming that it is any kind of virtue in a different candidate. Likewise, anyone who supported Kerry's 'flip flopping' should abstain from using it as criticism in the current election. To flip flop is human, for better or worse.

Furthermore, blindly acting on personal moral imperative is an excellent description of the current U.S. president. If recent history is any measurement, this is a deplorably dangerous quality in a president. Fortunately I do not think that either McCain or Obama represents or employs this kind of approach.

I agree. I was merely trying to express my disapproval of the stigma of "flipflopping". How people manage to be convinced that sticking to their guns in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary is a good thing, I'll never know.

Re: Obama or Clinton?

Hillary has way too much hubris, she cannot even acknowledge that she lost fair and square......just acknowledge defeat and endorse Obama Hell-ary......she is trying to kick a dead horse, and the horse is already starting to decay.

Another thing I absolutely hate is that some people are saying that Obama should make Billary his VP cuz it's showing he has respect for women.. Complete B.S. [controversial] Although that is a woman-like move to make... Should've said feminist.[/controversial]
Obama needs to pick who he truely thinks will be able to do good job as vp as well as helping beat McCain.

Because he'll need it.

In any case I'm excited because this is just another step toward the REAL election. Bring on the debates!

Re: Obama or Clinton?

I'm looking forward to this election too. I'm pretty sure I'll be voting for Obama just for the sake of balance in the Supreme Court but both candidates have said things that I've liked and disliked. I wish Hillary would go away If Obama needs a female on the ticket, I'd hope he goes for someone like the governor of Arizona, Janet Napolitano, who I like a lot. I imagine it will be someone like Edwards though.

Re: Obama or Clinton?

Time for absolute record breaking voter turn out!

Good news for demos since a larger portion of those people who would vote mccain are already expected to turn out, as opposed to all the silent demos who will show up for the first time ever.
