Re: Economic Stimulus Payment

Curiously, Damonte recently changed jobs and moved to a different state. He took a 15% pay cut in the process. As a result, Damonte is in a lower tax bracket and has lower state taxes.

So with all of this, Damonte now nets, after taxes are taken out, more per paycheck then he did when he was earning a higher gross income.

Something is not right with that.

And to stay on topic... you are all welcome for your rebate cheques courtesy of the Damonte Fund. Grrr...

Re: Economic Stimulus Payment

I got my $600 through direct deposit yesterday. Not quite sure what to do with it. I don't have any credit card debt. I was thinking about getting a new monitor. I'll just leave it in the bank for now.

Re: Economic Stimulus Payment

I filed a 1099Misc form this year, and did not owe anything due to all my deductions, so I'm not sure if I qualify for this. Girlfriend received 848$ because of the kid.

Did not owe anything, or didn't owe anything more than what was already withheld? HUGE difference there, and how much you paid in taxes will determine whether or not you get a stimulus check.

Agreed! I hate that people think they're getting free money just because they over-withheld during the year. Hell, send me 10% of your paycheck every month, and I'll give you a small "refund" on April 15, and you can think I'm generous, too.

I prefer to under-withhold and owe at the end. (I'd withhold zero if it were legal.) Then I could put the money in a savings account earning interest for me instead of for Uncle Sugar, and pay the whole tax on April 15.

What a scam. (Brought to you by WWII, when withholding was introduced to pay for the war.)

They're pretty but I think you could save a lot of money by building it yourself (or spend the same amount and make it 3x better). If you don't know how, thats what the internet is for :P
