Re: The Sarah Palin corner of the Sandbox!
You guys got it all wrong. Anonymous doesn't do anything for political or social interest. Their entire goal is to spread chaos. That's it. There's tons of info out there on the kinds of activities Anonymous engages in. Recently, they managed to phone in bomb threats to, I think it was, 7 major sports stadiums around the nation. A complete hoax, but it spread a lot of panic and confusion as a result and that's just what they wanted. One man was captured and has plead not guilty to the charges.
This is what Anonymous does:

And in their own words:

Re: The Sarah Palin corner of the Sandbox!
You know, you may well be right that the 2008 post-convention McCain ticket is dissimilar to the 2000-2007 McCain image. The logical follow up question is, which one is better? Personally I'm all for McCain 2008, and was never much interested in McCain 2000-07. I would suggest that McCain's rise in public opinion polls is more closely related to the "Which one is better?" question than it is to the "Has anything changed?" question.
I'm sorry that your favorite McCain 2000 isn't running any more, but that McCain got trounced. I guess it just wasn't to be.
I have some consolation for you though! When McCain is taking the oath of office next year, while all the conservatives are hoping-against-hope that his transformation will be genuine and not immediately disintegrate the next day, you can be hoping-against-hope that this was all just campaign rhetoric to hide his real motives, allowing him to go right back to what he was doing the previous seven years but with more power. And the conventional wisdom tells us that you are more likely to be right than we are. So don't give up just yet!

Maybe I'm a chicken, but at least I'm not a crazy chicken.

Yes I will be, unless I am watching Obama take the oath.

Well, if Obama's taking the oath, I won't have anything to hope for at all -- both his record AND his rhetoric are distasteful to me, so I'm screwed either way. =/
So which one will you be hoping for if Obama's swearing in? Record, or rhetoric?

Re: The Sarah Palin corner of the Sandbox!
At least we can say that in Obama's case the two match up fairly well, so you don't really have to choose. In fact many are claiming his record is rhetoric, so potato-potato to that. The way things have been going for McCain, I almost wouldn't be surprised if he pulled off his face like some kind of twisted Scooby Doo ending.
Lots of back and forth in the old sandbox today - it's like the stock market!
And I'll add one more thing - isn't it fitting that the discussion of the McCain ticket has pretty much shifted to the Palin thread! We never even made a Biden thread. Biden who?

Just for kicks, try reading what I write and imagine that I'm not actually angry when I write them, and don't intend for my words to come across as angry. FWIW I'm generally in a good mood and while I may express my ideas aggressively, it's pretty unusual for me to post anything when I'm angry. 9 times out of 10 when I do I immediately delete it and only the admins ever see it.

I agree wholeheartedly. Their intentions are frightening to say the least. It would be one thing if they had some sort of purpose behind their actions, but from what I gather they're mostly just angsty teens. Though the ones that have conspired against Scientology...well...I have a hard time not cheering that on.

Oh, I dislike Scientology too. I have many reasons...
But while 4Chan idiots claim they "do it for the lulz," they are just calling someone elses way of life STUPID. (While I may sympathize, who are they to judge? Most of them are anti-social drug users anyway...)
Back to the topic at hand.
Death to the infidel who hacked Palin!

Re: The Sarah Palin corner of the Sandbox!
The campaign against Scientology is definitely motivated beyond mere anarchy.
Skud: How do you feel about the physical protests and demonstrations against scientology, as well as the very concerted efforts they've made? Hacking and DDoSing the CoS website is a thing of the past and was, in fact, motivated purely to gain media attention.

Re: The Sarah Palin corner of the Sandbox!
OMG! I just finally saw the Tina Fey SNL sketch everyone's been talking about. I was dying. Great stuff! I haven't been into this debate much, but who cares. That was classic. I loved hearing "Palin"(Fey) say, "And don't call me a meelf." Then Hillary saying, "and quit saying I have cankles." Or something like that. No matter what side of the fence you're on, that was genuinely funny.
BTW, I still think Palin is royally hawt, and even if I was a bleeding heart liberal Democrat, I'd vote for her, just in hopes that I might see her on t.v. for possibly the next 8 years.
Hot librarian look...FTW!!!
I really do like her politics though, hotness aside. But still."Common sense is not so common." -Voltaire

Re: The Sarah Palin corner of the Sandbox!
The kids doing the protests are the same kids that all wear the damn V masks.
Protesting, even if they make fools of themselves, is completely legal. Destruction of internet property and DDOS attacks is illegal. A main complaint against CoS on their part, is that the CoS has acted illegally in the past...
At this point they are trolling people. Yes, these people are part of a cult. They are entitled to their opinion. Respectful and lawful forms of protest are fine, but when it becomes committing crimes "for the lulz..."
UGH.
