    Thumbs up DIY Voter Statistics

I've been thumbing around my state's various election offices just out of curiosity and it's quite interesting what I've been seeing on a per county/district/precinct level. Basically, the DEMS have been making HUGE gains over the REPS in voter registration and voter registration itself has improved markedly. In my county alone DEM registrants outnumber REPS 2 to 1. In Miami-Dade, which has always generally been pro. REP, the DEMS have a lead of about 200,000 registrants. I even dug up some stuff on the vaunted I-4 corridor and I'm seeing marked gains by the DEMS there too... where last year they may have only had 20,000 more registered DEMS now they have 60,000 more than the REPS do. NPA (non-party affiliated) registrants have also skyrocketed, but I personally believe these generally favor the DEM party... so the gap further increases.

I previously thought Florida wasnt really a battleground state anymore and it'd gone decidedly Red for obvious socio-economic reasons... but, looking at the latest stats I'm now in the camp that Florida is INDEED a battleground state again and in fact may be a major swing for the Blue. If the trend continues I think people are going to be shocked by what they see.

Now, we dont see these types of numbers coming from National Gallup polls and what not because they take the whole country into account. Prior Florida polls had shown Obama ahead but McCain taking the lead late July. The thing is, those polls are OPINION polls and dont necessarily reflect the raw data. The raw data is telling ME that things are swinging WAY towards Obama's direction... especially in the Latino circles down here.

Many people think that the racial bias in this election will negate these raw numbers and IMHO I agree, but the numbers are just really compelling right now that they just MIGHT be enough to vote the bias out of the picture. There might be another shocker in store for us between voter results and poll data; Obama just might sweep my state unexpectantly.

What kinds of numbers are you guys finding in your states/counties?

Here are some stats for Broward County:

So they can participate in closed primaries. The question is, who were these Dem's registering to vote for? I don't think it was for Obama.

I switched affiliation to vote for Ron Paul in the primary. Now I need to go re-file to switch back to Libertarian.
