Re: You WILL Obey !!
Not sure I would call him a prick.
If you tell police you want to kill yourself, you are not going to be left at home. All those at the scene gave him plenty of time and tries to cooperate.
If you start cursing and moving towards a cop, expect to get tased. The patient seems like a total ******* too. Definately NOT able to cooperative, or compromise.
Taser use was just fine IMO.|TG-X|Turkish

Re: You WILL Obey !!
What about the extra dosages after the initial tase? It was clear that the man was in great pain and that he wasn't actually resisting anything. Also, could the officer not have simply physically restrained the man instead of using a taser? The man was obviously uncooperative as well as unreasonable, but that's really no excuse to put an old man like him through such pain...

Re: Tasers back in the news?
Same crap, over and over.
"Old" suddenly equates with "unable to put up a fight".
"Simple physical restraint" suddenly means "there's absolutely no possibility of lasting bodily harm when said subject is wrestled to the ground with physical compliance joint manipulation techniques".
Having your wrist/arm/shoulder manipulated to put your ass on the ground HURTS. Having a wrist/arm/shoulder of an uncooperative subject accidently broken HURTS them much LONGER than a Taser.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Tasers back in the news?
NEVER tell anyone you're gonna commit suicide. Just do it and get yourself out of the gene pool, and stop wasting everyone's time. The whole idea that someone should be saved from suicide is something I find ridiculous. Just protect those around him from an amateur attempt. Soylent Green parlors are looking pretty attractive. The only reason I can see to bother with this guy in the first place is that he might hurt a bystander while offing himself.

Re: Tasers back in the news?
This. Guy had "Heart Problems". WTF are heart problems? There are like 6,263 "heart problems". Some are relevant, most are not.
Falling hurts less than getting owned by 1 cop and 3 FF. Multiple tazes due to smart ass here not complying with simple instructions. I am surprised cop didn't have dog removed from scene earlier, definitely a hazard.
Oh, and we can add another retard to the list of people who have no idea what a "Heart Attack"" is. Sheesh! Nice "Faking" on the back pain and the "Chest Pains" once they moved him to the Stair Chair!
If you watch it all the way through, his true colors shine. I am surprised that he only got tazed 4 times TBH....Last edited by TurkishDelight; 09-05-2010 at 09:18 AM.

Re: Tasers back in the news?
Most of the issues are where force was being used when they wouldn't without a taser because it is 'harmless'. Yes, using a taser on a violent suspect is safer than those things, the issue is when it is used for non-violent non-compliance that they wouldn't use arm manipulation for normally.
Just because everyone does something does not mean that it is right to do.

Re: Tasers back in the news?
Anyone remember cartoons from the 60's depicting orderlies from the asylum chasing escapees with giant nets?

Re: Tasers back in the news?
My only issue with this is that after you give the initial "taze" and the subject is OBVIOUSLY incapacitated, then why the hell would you do it again. It does not matter if the subject was a smart-ass before you got him, this is like putting a guy in handcuffs, sitting him in the back of squad car, and then beating the crap out of him afterwards simply because you do not like him.

Re: Tasers back in the news?
The incapacitation lasts as long as the voltage is arcing from barb to barb through your muscles. Once it stops, you can move again and continue to fight.
