Re: My reply to DdogG from another thread..

Let me see if I got this right:

1. God is all-knowing and all-powerful.
2. Adam and Eve in the garden was "plan a".

If I got that right then here are 2 questions:

1. Where did the people in the land of Nod come from? Plan "C"?
2. If item 1. from above is true, then why the need for plan a? Why not just go straight to plan b? Sounds pretty darn mean to me. Either god is mean or he/she's NOT all-knowing and all-powerful.

free will..... if you are a loving God, you dont force your will on others... you let them choose. not giving a choice is not freedom..... you have the freedom to choose God or reject him, it doesn't change God either way. but plan A was broken by disobedience of man, God gave man a choice... he chose to sin.... it doesnt stop God from loving man. The whole Bible is about God trying to bring man back to him.

This has been discussed at least 3 times in the past year though, and nothing ever comes of it, so please accept my resignation from this discussion. Feel free to rebutt me again, but I will not be reading it. you will not convince me, I will not convince you. read previous threads if you want my POV.

Ok so if you dont live under the 10 commandments, but live under grace, then you're all set?

This is why I hate religion... to GD confusing..

Ddog, You're not preaching, so dont worry about it. I understand that you need to show your basis of the your own faith, to teach others. The part I dont like is the forcing me to believe what your saying (which you arent, you're just explaining).

On a side note, its nice to a civil converation about religion and not have it turn into "my god can kick your gods ass" war.

I've been reading these religion threads. I don't usually post, but just read to learn. I agree that people can't force their beliefs on others in hopes to change them, but having a healthy discussion of history and people's point of views brings about the chance for people with open minds to make a change.

Basically I hate seeing some threads end because there is no outcome. It is learning for some people and helpful. On the same note, it does get frustrating when the posts are "this is the only way to believe".

I often feel that the purpose of these threads is not to change someone's mind, so much as enrich eachother's understanding of our personal perspectives. The better we understand eachother, the better we can begin to understand the world around us.
