WHOA BOI! Cell, you live in Dallas? Wharbouts?
And as for the movie, I reserve my right for a "told ya so" if it bombs and ends Depp's career. I don't think the original could be improved upon much. I do agree that Depp is a remarkable actor, though (regardless of the pirate movie where he's wearing more makeup than RuPaul). If I knew enough about it, I'd start a RHPS thread to see what you freaks really do on Saturday nights. (;< |

Re: Depp as Wonka?
I saw the trailer this weekend when I went to see Batman Begins (go see that movie).
I must say... I'm a bit nervous. My sense from watching the trailer (which I'd seen online -- something about the movie threater makes it more... real) was that, as expected, Depp has done a superb job of being his character. I'm just nervous about my ability to embrace the (newly renovated) character in the same light as I did when I was a child. In related news, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, the gaming development company startup belonging to Flayra, the author of Natural Selection, has been doing contracting work on the upcoming Charlie and the Chocolate Factory video game for Warner Brothers. I'm not sure if I can refrain from comparing it to the old movie. While the Wilder movie was certainly a bit twisted, it wasn't nearly as dark as Depp's seems like it's going to be...

Re: Depp as Wonka?
I agree with the consensus that Johnny Depp is a tremendous actor. Depp and Burton have a pretty good creative history together so I'm not too terribly worried about the film. My favorite equation of theirs so far is:
Tim Burton + Johnny Depp = Edward Scissorhands. Maybe Sleepy Hollow.

Re: Depp as Wonka?
Argh, how can you not like Tim Burton, he did the only 2 good Batman movies besides the newest.
As for the movie being "revamped" the original movie had very little to do with the actual book which was alot more dark than the original movie would lead you to believe.

Wilder : boring, unfunny, wooden, lame. Depp : an actor who's talents are wasted on a pile of crap like that stupid, boring film where he was a homicidal writer, with a split personality. Oh and that other pile of trash - scissorhands? I mean c'mon - Cap'n Jack Sparrow ftw. Roll on pirates 2 and 3. That said, remakes are always a waste of space. I've yet to see a single one that even comes close. Hollywood rarely has a clue when it comes to making quality films. Unfortunately, no-one else has the budget to make them. The original film was so good that it carried wilder and his lack of talent. The remake will be carried by Depp's performance, despite being utter rubbish. Root
