They are just celebrities... Oh and they are also a tourist attraction... That's about it though.

Just think, if the royals didn't exist what would the tabloids fill their pages with?

You don't feel that you've just insulted the heritage of your own country? I'm confused. Dudeman seemed to indicate that I had made a huge faux pas...

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but WWII and the German invasion of Europe wasn't purely about the Jews. Associating Hitler and the Nazi party purely with their relationship to the Jews would be a gross misjustice for world history.

English nationals should have the same right to be outraged at the fact that Hitler bombed the crap out of their country as the Jews to for the persecution they received during the war.

Oh exactly my point....

Is the rest of the world that fought and died fighting screaming about this incident?

And, in fact, there's a rather large number of people that are calling our President's inaugeration a "coronation" and think that it is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars. Of course, it's mostly the same radical idiots that claim to be ashamed of America now and threatened to leave if our President was re-elected...

First of all dont talk about tax payers money, because the royal family actually make more money than they take from the tax payer. they have vast areas of land that make money for the countrys economy.

and its not the power the queen has, its the power the queen stops people getting. even though it would be a very rare occurance the army and police still pledge aliegence to the queen, and at a moments notice she can disolve government.

which effectivly means no sadam hussien.

all laws that are passed still have to have royal assent. which is more ceremony but its still a traditional power.

and each government has to be sworn in by the queen.

you americans may think they are celebrity because you see them as a tourist attraction but there is a role for them.

there will be no sadam hussien as long as we have a monarchy.

oh and why i have to defend this view to you i dont know.

noone has any right to be outraged, its a costume at a teenagers party, everyone should get a bloody grip on reality.

when all is said and done, a few weeks before the prince was out doing charity and he was also helpping pack the bags for the charity aid for the tsunami.

it was a costume and it was no worse than the falty towers incident which did not have the hype.

Dudeman I don't think anyone's questioning the monarchy or suggesting that you shouldn't have them and like them if you please. Folks have just been saying "I don't get it" and asking for clarification. That's how I've read it.

I agree. If he'd arrived with a pal dressed up like a jewish concentration camp inmate that would be another thing entirely. In retrospect I bet he wishes he'd left the armband touch on the dresser, but learning things like that's part of growing up.

yeah, nut he boaught this from a costume shop, you know they sell fansy dress costumes.

what in gods name are ppl getting so upset over, he went to a party, he went as hitler or romel or someone he was probably learning about less than a year ago...

puut it in context and there isnt a problem. i am fed up with whinny little know it alls causing a stir, ffs womens federation or whatever just got a very funny "little britain" sketch removed from a comedy sketch, why because it humerously portrayed a middle class woman as a racist.

everyone in the country accept them found it funny, but they cause a stink and it goes. politically correct my arse, its becomming bloody stupid, you cant keep compensating for something that happened over 58 years ago.

let it go...yes its a serious issue, no he meant nothing by it end of story.

If you reread what I wrote, you might realize that I was talking about the President of the United States, not your "monarchy".
