Also, at the final ultimatum that was given to Saddam, the US asked for a report of everything SH had destroyed or still had in his possession. The 1300 pages (or more can't remember) was mostly old, mis-, and dis-information. I clearly remember this being the point where Bush gave them just a few days to put or face war. I also read a great piece about how Saddam had to maintain a show of force even if it meant war. If he were to prove and admit that he didn't have weapons and we didn't invade guess who would've.....your buddies Iran. |

oh wait everybody ghost said it was... wow thanks for clearing that up pal... we were all lost. actually no, before the war even started bush was talking about the freedom of iraq from an opreesive riegime, i followed the war from start to preasent. Tony Blair also, (although without as much emphasis as bush) talked about iraqs freedom and democracy in the middle east. so im sorry you are flat out wrong to say it was the only reason. yes ofcourse when it looked like none were going to be found the politicians placed more emphasis on the iraqi freedom, but it was there from the start and to say it wasnt is against the talks held in both parliament over here and congress in america. oh yeah and the migs were a find.... but i think the most important find and the one we should remind ourslves of is the hooks in the prisons, the mass graves thge torture chambers and sadams sons tigres that fed on human meat.

Re: Iran
Here's a cool pic of the planes buried in the desert. No one seems to know exactly why they were buried though. Apparently, they had little protection and would probably never fly again.
Pics of MIG 29's and SU25's buried in Desert - Aug 2003 More pics BBC Story Apparently the Australian's found 30 or so planes in April 2003 stating they were fomr the mid 1980's, and then the US found another 51 "brand new" planes buried as well in Aug 2003. |

Can you imagine being bivouaced on top of a collection of fighter jets and not even realizing it until the wind exposed the tip of a tail? If it's that easy to hide fighter jets from us, how easy is it to hide canisters of chemical weapons?

Re: Iran
I doubt that's how they were found. If I were trying to scour a desert for buried WMDs I'd think about using the sensors the navy uses to find submarines by detecting disturbances in the earth's magnetic field. Something that big would cause a blip, but a well-dispersed cache of 50gallon drums probably wouldn't (though it might, nobody's told me how sensitive their ...sensors are (had an Austin Powers moment there)).
Of course this is neither here nor there. Yes it would be wild to bivouac and see a tail pop up out of the dirt. |

Anyway, I'm not one to hold back info even though it doesn't support my position on something so I thought I'd post it. Hey if they found full planes hidden buried in the desert maybe there is some chance of finding something more sinister. We'll have to wait and see. |

yes but is that forever, the weapons inspectors said it was too dangerous for them to visit all places, or so the paper said in this country. wha they were not clear on is whether this is for the forseeable future or indefinatly.
