Re: I voted in the iraqi out-of-country elections.

Probably not the best forum to tell this story but................

In june of 2004 My cousin took his own life. He served from 1975-2000 in the 82nd AirBorn as a Medic. He served in Granada, The Middle East, Central america and in the first gulf war. As a young man it was Mike who caused me to want to join the army. I first remember seeing him in dress uniform when he visited us Christmas 1977. He was a bit of a family hero to me. He suffered from gulf war syndrome, and 25 yrs of dealing with wounded soldiers. He never earned the Purple Heart, but because of him Many lived to recieve thiers. Unfortunatly not all casualties of war die in combat. To many His story would not be that of a hero especialy due to the ending to the story. Yet I still look at all he did to serve this country and protect the lives of the men who placed themselves in harms way with great reverence. Micheal Curtis will always be in my mind, The Young soldier, who looked so sharp in that Burgandy Beret with jump wings and all the cords and the Blue disks behind his medic buttons.

Ok well, I am not bashing Jackel. As for what others thought of him, well I don't care I base my thoughts on my own experiance. Although I disagree with him on some issues he has not said any thing to make me disslike him. If you are pointing to a spasific thread please link strait to it.

Not sure if he was making a personal attack or advertising his forums but either way thanks for deleting it. I know it seems like we are giving Black Jackel a beating here, but personal attacks or statments about how things are in other forums just don't fit here. Jackel I apologise for that post. I know we are rough on people with different opinions some times but that is what debating is all about.

I think actually this thread needs to die already. I understood what it started as. I will translate. if I am wrong Jackel correct me. Jackel was saying he felt like he had to drive a long ways and was inconvenianced(sp), untill he got there. Ok pay attention. Till he got there and saw all of the others who dove a lot further and had to sacrifice far more to vote.

that is precicely what i meant this thread to be....

How it turned out just horrifies me, truth be told up untill a minute within posting this i stopped reading the thread altogether...

I planted the seed of a flower, and out came a zombie monster from hell.

Anyways, the United States has commited some atrocities, they have done wrong, the US is not a perfect nation. Anyone who says anything otherwise is an idiot.

The U.S. has had its good moments, and its bad. The thing that makes the U.S. great is that i can sit here and flame the U.S. to hell and not fear for my life or the life of my loved ones.

But if you think the U.S. is perfect in every way, then i can NOT argue with you.

I never said i hated the US, and so i really dont see why people are getting worked up.

Matter of fact, i find the strength now to argue again about this... because i honestly dont see where i am wrong.

Please, quote the exact phrase I said, line by line, and explain how you think that was wrong.

You're absolutely right. Every country has its problems... A lot of us here still think that the United States of America is the best thing going in the world, though... Perfect? No. The best there is? I think so.

With the exception of the racist posts that were deleted, I think this thread turned out well enough. I'm sure some of us have a new outlook on things because of it...

Yeah, they came after that post of yours. And I'm sorry, but once they're deleted, they're unavailable for public view.
